Which finally arrived about 15 mins ago so we're just on our way home. Had a lovely day though and echo all the thanks. Thanks to Graham as well who waited around with us for the last couple of hours to point, laugh and take pictures of the car being loaded up!

So sorry didnt make it to see you in brighton today, woke up to the sound of water in the back bedroom !!!!! just finished mopping up, it seems like the wind has forced the rain into the roof area and run to lowest point in the room i.e. the light socket regards Len

Only my second SLEG meet (and my third Lotus meet). The rain and biting winds could not spoil a really enjoyable day. Cheers everyone.

No time to think of any amusing captions for these pics. No prizes for the funniest one.

It took a while to defrost and dry out once I got home, but a great day out.

Thanks to all who helped out on this one, to Paul & Vicky for handing out money for parking, and to Laura for letting me play with her Light Sabre!

This book is guaranteed to NOT change your life…but it does mention a Lotus Esprit...

My pics are in the boot still, I'll add them later!

Cracking effort from the SLEGS and I'm pleased to say that the weather didn't disappoint. I've not been that cold and wet for a long time. Thanks everyone for being nice to my nephew and sister, they had a lovely day :)

Trevor, did you see the other Turbo 2 heading up the esplanade while we were heading back? Not often you see one in a day, let alone 2 and I was relieved it wasn't yours!!

My car developed a problem on the drive down and the belt which drives the vacuum and water pumps has stopped doing it's job. It's either lost tension or one of the pumps is bust and the vacuum is only 6 weeks old so it's unlikely to be that. 2.5 hours for a truck is a piss take though, I'll be on the phone to Flux Rescue later lodging a complaint.

Bibs,

If it was a blue one then It was probably me as we went back that way past the chip shop.

Like you I haven't had a soaking like that for a long while but didn't dampen the day.

Bring on the next one.

Spearmint Rino anyone :D

Trevor.

I'll get around to it at some point.

No, different reg and he had a 'turbo 2' sticker rather than just 'turbo' in the rear window. Same colour as yours though!

More pics :D

Another Grand Day Out but as usual almost everyone was wearing the Wrong Trousers...

The local press turned up to take some photos... watch out for The Argus? if you live in the area.

CIMG4123.jpg

Photoshoot in progress

CIMG4126.jpg

Shortly thereafter there was much debate about how many sun loungers would be required for the afternoon's frolics on the beach.

CIMG4133.jpg

This continued in an animated fashion....

CIMG4141.jpg

.....until it became apparent that the purveyors of such horizontal reclining devices had not bothered to get out of bed to line the shingles with their merchandise. Bloody soft Southerners!

CIMG4136.jpg

I think that Coleridge was in town..... 'cos "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a pleasure dome decree" and this afforded some of us the opportunity to let our esteemed leader beat everyone, even the computer, on the myriad of driving games to be found in the Sega Place of Electronic Enjoyment.

Meanwhile, outside, it looked like the locals were getting ready to start lunch without us

CIMG4186.jpg

It looked like they were preparing to mob the restaurant so we gave chase....

CIMG4213.jpg

Fortunately the Regency was operating a Negative Seagull Discrimination Policy which is fully in line with Brown's latest Quango staffed by hundreds of Local Anti Birdfowling Community Support Outreach Officers so there was enough space for us all

CIMG4314.jpg

Our end of the table did our best to assist with maintaining the cap on the Fishing Quota by ordering steaks and veggie lasagne... well, you have to don't you? It's the law!

CIMG4319.jpg

On return to the place where the meter earns considerably more than the national minimum wage, or car park as the council prefer to call it, despite having a Frontera full of tools, I had neglected to throw a car jack or aqualung into the boot so we were unable to effect a roadside repair for Bibs and Laura who were abandoned to the elements. As you know they then enjoyed playing the "we'll be there inside an hour" game of terminological inexactitudes the breakdown company like to pass off as 'customer service'.

All in all, a wonderful day and, as I throw the deep sea diving suit into the boot of the car, I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Snowshoes ready for South Mimms ? I should say so....

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.

In practice, there is!

Hi guys, great pictures, looks like it was a cracking day out and I am so sorry I was not there.

Eddie bless you, thanks for the PM's, I'm glad I managed to get contact to you and apologies it was late in the day. I don't have your number on my new 'phone.

Sorry Bibs for not getting in touch with you at all. I was ambulanced to hospital last week and just spent a delightful (not!) seven days there. Feeling a little better, hence them letting me out this evening. Have numerous bottles of morphine, any recommendations for a cocktail??!!

January to say the least, has been shite!

Just because you can, does'nt mean you should.

Jane the work experience girl called me yesterday for some details and she didn't know when it would be in the paper. My sister lives in Brighton so is keeping an eye out too

 • 2 weeks later...

I'd just like to extend my thanks to Sparky for heading over and dealing with my problem (snapped bracket as initially diagnosed) today despite me being at Brands Hatch on a Marshal Training Day. Above and beyond the call of duty, good man, thank you
