Dont see the point of 400+ hp really.

You're never going to keep up with the jones in Nobles/lambos and all, same way as they cant compete with the Esprits flexibility, cheapness to run, MPG and useable storage space as a weekend away car.

Plus the driver accounts for so much - I've been in a 280hp GT3 which no one could catch mainly due to the driver.

Driving like a cock with blatant disregard for license and the law on public roads does not make for a fast car with good performance figures - I have been overtaken by a saxo on the way to work doesn't mean that it's a faster car...or he was a better driver - just a bloke who was at that time prepared to break the law and take a bigger risk than me. I didn't or don't want to catch him - he can fech off...

Thats pretty much the point, 400hp+ is not really usable on the roads, everytime I stand on the acceleratorin 2nd gear my car breaks 2-3 laws. I know many (could say I was) bad drivers in fast cars which are no match for good drivers in slower/poorer cars wrt everything driving, not necessarily breaking rules.

Thing is if I wanted 400hp I would get the engine modified properly to that level, not with stick ons, the later method is cheaper but in the long run it'll cost you in repair work and end up being the same as a purpose built engine - with more reliability.

You'll have to speak to Bibs/BN about what he had done but I seem to remember 2.5 litre bore out was the order of the day.

I know BN very well and have had many discussions re gt3 power upgrades, etc. 400 Can be done and there's nothing too mental about it.

It's not rocket science.

Does the Esprit code not adjust boost according to ACT then?
No one knows (or is owning up to know :spell: ) then?

Anyway, from my limited rummaging around in the SE code it appears not to. Any one know differently?

It's fairly simple to put an ACT check into the code, I'm thinking that when above 58 deg C overboost should be prevented. I've chosen this temperature because the small turbo Escort Cosworth starts limiting boost below 10 deg C and above 58 deg C.

Good read on chips! But I may want to advise anyone thinking of boost tuning, get a HKS EVC VI boost controller. This is really what the esprit needs.

On daily use I set mine to .75 bar ( I do not brake rules....) and for fun all the way up to 1.5 bar( I would be in jail 10+ years...). With a good base chip ( S300 or so ), a mod. Turbo, injectors and fuel pressure regulator, the car has everything to be able to run as one desires. ( at the finger tips, literally!)

I would say that getting the HKS and FPR installed was the best I ever did for the Esprit!

Olaf - what spring/wastegate do you run in your wastegate 0.65/0.75 or 1.0 bar?

Nice tip on Boost control will try that - where did you source FPR and how much?

I use a stainless steel actuator ( the variable one from R&B) and the new FPR that they brought out. I am happy with the setup.

Visiting the Ring today was a blast in the dry, then some shours came down and I simply reduced boost to .5 bar, no slip in the wet. I actually find it quite handy to play with the boost and get myself what I want, when I want it.... :-)

Didn't realise they did a variable actuator spring? Will check there now - I have the 1.0bar competition wategate (fromR+B) - which i believe Marcus thinks is incorrect.
