LSV
Hello Guys, A new guy, just registered at the last few hours of 2008. My name is Ruud-Peter, live in the Netherlands and I've just bought my first Lotus Esprit (finally! Wanted one for a long time!) I've bought a 84 Esprit Turbo in Monaco white, which is due to arrive on a trailer on 10th of January and I plan to keep in completely original. I'm used to "British Engineering" as my daily driver is a modified Range Rover V8 Hopefully this forum will give me some tips and clues for sourcing parts. Regards, Ruud-Peter

andydclements
Hi. Welcome to the forum, and ownership, I guess you're wishing for the 10th to get here now. I'm used to "British Engineering" as my daily driver is a modified Range Rover V8 I think there will be a few parts common, not too many on a Range Rover, but British Leyland aka Rover aka Austin-Morris will be a fair few components. If it's an older Range Rover you'll be used to Lucas electrics, if it's not, you'll soon get used to Lucas electrics. At least there are enough people on here who can help you diagnose and tell you how to fix almost any issue you're likely to encounter. LSV
Hello Guys, Thanks for the warm welcome. I drive a Range Rover II, also known as the P38. Indeed, engineered with Lucas electronics and weird combinations of components made by Hella, Wabco, Valeo, Magneti Marelli, Bosch, Borg Warner...and they all have to communicate through about 7 or 8 ECU's. And yes, the "king of darkness" already reveiled himself a few times... The Esprit will be a challenge, but probably more on a mechanical and wiring loom level. I'll keep you posted on the progress, the car is expected to arrive the 10th of January, I'll post some pics as soon as I have it on my driveway.
