iain Nicholson
Hi Guys I am considering fitting a larger capacity battery to my 84 turbo. Instead of 60-65 amp hour I can fit a 70amp hour, Will the larger capacity harm or overload any of the electrical systems? andydclements
Shouldn't cause any issue, as long as you can find one that fits. I may do the same as mine is having to be jump-started most mornings when it's frosty. At least a bigger capacity will mean the minor drain over night is less of an issue, and then make sure the new one has a slightly higher cranking current. molemot
Increasing battery capacity can't overload anything; Ohms law still applies, same volts and same resistance load will give the same current drain..no difference. Greater battery capacity simply means that it can supply the load for longer..in this case, a 1 amp load for 70 hours instead of 60, which has got to be a good thing!! I'd squeeze in the largest (greatest capacity) battery you can fit.
