silverfrost
As said above its not an esprit just the shell is the only lotus thing on there! I kind of like it apart from the colour scheme metalic green or silver would of looked tops! regards danny Quote A

mangel
Don't faind anything about offensive, chances are they took and esprit which was past its best and turned it into a serious drag car!!

Katie
That's about the most offensive thing I have seen for quite some time. Oh, other than Subarus and Porsches!!! Quote Just because you can, does'nt mean you should.
Loose Cannon
Excellent! Which would you rather have, an old G car rotting away in a clump of weeds or raising a smile and the profile of the Esprit with a whole new audience. andydclements
Well I guess it's OK as a drag car, weight distribution would probably be so far out as to rule out driving it on any normal road. But the paint work? It's a bit out of keeping with the body shape, but each to their own (wouldn't want to see the person's house). 73JPS
Who would make a funny car of an esprit? The Ebay Link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...bayphotohosting Why not? I'm with Mark and Toby on this one. And it seems, looking at the pics, that a fairly innovative job was done turning it into a quarter miler. You have to look at it in the context of being a 1/4 mile Funny Car dragster: its no longer an Esprit. Its simply a Funny Car in the basic shape of an Esprit. It is rather a wretched paint job though Edited February 6, 2009 by 73JPS Quote "At home, I have a King Sized bed. socal450
I think if you come across a Esprit with a salvage title,no drivetrain,on its deathbed then why not!!! But yea,the paint sucks........
73JPS
Yes, Tim, I agree with you there. I guess I am assuming that someone didn't take their cherished road car and did this. I would think it likely that someone was looking to create a 1/4 mile Funny Car and looked for that which you just described in order to do so. I do think this car was created from a genuine Esprit body shell, though, looking at the pics... Quote "At home, I have a King Sized bed. gwilhelm
If I were in the market for a drag racer, I'd buy it! Think about it.... a LOTUS doing a 9 second quarter mile! That is a feat! No real Lotus Esprit can do a 9 second run! It is very well thought out and very well engineered. Granted he placed a rear bumper on the front but he did do a good job blending it in. It's a tube chassis with Lotus panels bolted to it. Its not really a Lotus as is any drag racing caring car... they are all tube chassis with plastic panels draped over them. There is nothing sacrilegious about it! Just my 2Cents...

dodgy
Is it me? Does the rear look like a 'g' and the front a stevens? I would asume, that they built the drag car and then fitted a heavily modified Esprit body to it. It would not suprise me if it was never an Esprit. claimchaser
My first thought is that someone gave up on trying to keep one running in the USA,which I can fully understand. As this is one of the hardest cars to get parts for in this country that I have ever seen. I bet it's alot like getting parts for a 88 oldsmobile in the UK! And all that effort into masking of that flame job? I mean the painter must be color blind! That was a waste of probobly $900.00 worth or materials! But since they live in the lap of luxury (mobile home) they must be able to afford it ! Quote Car Lover,,at least thats how the report read.
