ricky
I live in north London and non of the meeting forums seem to be anywhere near my area. I am a little supprised because there must be a number of owners in my area. To meet the south England group requires driving right through London. To meet the East England group requires quite a long drive - and there the closesed groups. Are there any other meetings closer to me that are not listed? For example The Ace Cafe perhaps, I live quite near there. I am hoping to be using my car soon and its nice to meet new people / other owners. Any ideas ????? MPx
Not that I've ever been but you're right that the Ace Cafe is a regular venue (thrid Wed of the month I believe for Lotus & TVR). Paul C is a regular from here and will no doubt do some intros for you. But dont dismiss the other stuff - it can be fun to spend an hour in the car getting to the meets!! esprit350
Hi, meets dont just happen, they are organised by someone, if there is no meet in your area then someone needs to organise one, that someone could be you, its dead easy:- pick a venue, date and time post it in the events thread then attend then do it again and again have good time. see NMEG thread on how to do it or AEG thread on how to complicate it best of luck Howard The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. Gold FFM Sparky Posted January 14, 2009 Gold FFM Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 Oi - don't forget the Watford chapter! By coincidence, there's an 'oily rag' meet this Saturday, all day, on my drive. Woohoo! Being a SLEG, I fully expect a blizzard. martynv
Well the Essex / London area can be a bit of a strange place Esprit wise, there are plenty of Esprits about but most never seem to break cover from there garages !. There is the official Club Lotus meet every third Monday at the Woodman pub in Ongar but unfortunately this can be very thin on the ground Esprit wise unless you can organise beforehand to get a few more cars along. We do however have a Esprit(owner) only meet in Essex organised by Chris Cole (Esprit22) usually on the first Sunday of every month, but there probably won't be many cars along till the weather improves a bit. Paul you must be fairly close to me as I live in Highams Park and have also just discovered in my spotted post from last Sunday that Len (lguy) lives up the road in Chingford, so we could almost have a meet with just the three of us !. I can't make this Sunday unfortunately but I will post up the date of the next Essex meet as soon as I know when it is. Looking at the locations of those who have posted so far maybe we could all meet up a South Mimms when the weather improves a bit as it's a fairly central location and quite a common meeting point for various car groups. ricky
Very very good, I am well impressed !! There obviously are many owners in my area willing to meet up. The south mimms area sounds great for a North London meet, its very accessable to many. However I suggest not at the actual service station itself (too busy there and you cant sit comfortably by the cars). 1/2 mile south from the services on the A1 (at the first roundabout) is a Harvester - with a bar, seating outside and a large carpark. I suggest this as an appropriate venue. We can either sit inside or if / when the weathers ok outside. If all are in agreement I think this venue is best. My car is not currently on the road but I am confident that it will be soon. Therefore I think it best if someone else suggests, agrees and arranges the first date for this meet. What do you think???
