I have a 1990 Turbo SE and also seem away from the other owners groups somewhat, if your planning to meet soon please let me know.

I live in Sawbridgeworth near stansted airport, I know of 1 other esprit circ 1990(off the road).

There must be others locally? who are not as yet members.

Let me know if you arrange anything, I might not be able to regularly meet but who knows.

Dave

Hi Dave, that's what this thread is all about, meeting up with other owners locally, have a read through it and you'll see the following details:

8th February - 11am.

11-12 - Mince about in car park at the Harvester, South Mimms neck of the woods.

12-2 - Sunday lunch, all the trimmings

2 - whenever, mince about some more, go for a drive, have some fun :)

Just add yourself to the list of attendees so far & turn up on the day:

1. Bibs

2. Martyn

3. Felix

4. Chris

5. Sparky

6. Trevsked

7. Jonno (& chick?)

8. LEN

9. Rog (possiby)

You might want to have a look at the regional groups for SLEG (Southern Lotus Esprit Group) and AEG (Anglian Esprit Group) both of which have meets which are within a reasonable distance of you. I used to live in Sawbo myself & we're now only 30/45 mins (the record is 20mins to the A414 turn off) down the M11 from you and tend to go along to all the SLEG meets.

If there's not a meet in a location suitable to you it's not difficult to organise one yourself. Just post up a date/time/location and local people will starting adding their interest. If you post it... they will come :P

Hi Dave,

As Laura says if you can please come along on the 8th, weather permiting. My sister lives in Sawbridgeworth so you may well spot my Esprit passing through occasionaly. We do also have an Esprit meet in Hastingwood at the Rainbow and Dove which is only 10mins away from you. Come over and see me on the 8th and have a chat :P .

Wow!!!!! Great responce.

I am looking forward to meeting you people. However I am now concerned about the weather, it would be a shame to have little or no turnout due to servere conditions or the worry of possible problems with the weather.

For this reason do you think it might be best to push the date back by a week - just to be sure.

Personally I can make it any weather as I live near there, and I expect it to be clear and warmer (though still cold) by then.

This is just a suggestion, what do the rest of you think??

Hi Ricky,

I've just been looking at the weather for the weekend and it doesn't look that good, so I reckon you're right we should push it back a week and prehaps both Paul and Dave might be able to make it too.

Martyn :)

I'm not normally one to alter dates due to weather, but I can think of 2 good reasons for delaying this!

One's white, the other is black...

Unfortunately, yes. :)

However, that one's a walk in the park compared to the white one! Sometime this year I actually intend to do something with a red one. Sometime...

Back on topic, this is all going a bit 'AEG'.

The meet is set for the 8th and unless it's snowing then we'll keep it then. Not sure if anyone would want to meet on Valentine's weekend anyway.

Speak, and I obey, O Great One. However, may only be able to do an hour or so due to workload.

I'm off to Canada today and will be back on Saturday... So, I will check to see if the date is changed or not. I know I'm looking forward to my first Meet... But I'm also flexable. Felix

Hi Ricky,

The harvester that you recommended earlier in the thread, can you confirm it is this one:

Kings Arms

Stirling Corner

Barnet

Herts

EN5 3JG

Map link Here

Also looking at the google satellite view it looks impossible to enter the site if you're coming down the A1 from the M25 as it seems to be only possible to do a left on the A411 heading toward the roundabout, is this true or is it possible to access it from the A1 roundabout ?.

Hope to see you Sunday

Thanks

Martyn <_<

You travel down the A1 to Stirling Corner (which is the 1st roundabout), turn left and the entrance is directly to your right.

I think the roads will be bad, at best they will be filthy. This is why I thing the following week would be better. if its still on the 8th I will still try and attend, though probably without the car.

I presume its Bibs decision.

let us know.

Thanks for the info Ricky. At the moment the weather prediction is for it to be dry all day and night Saturday and Sunday during the day although cold and a bit grey, So hopefuly the roads will dry out in time for Sunday morning :)

Having been over to see Bibs & Laura this morning (and therefore past South Mimms), I can confirm that the roads are absolutely fine, and the weather just perfect for the Esprit.

I'll be there! :P

Ok guys and gals, time to put your money where your mouth is, jump in the car and go and meet some like-minded people.... after all said and done, you participated in this thread to meet others with similar values.

Esprit - noun - sprightliness of spirit or wit; lively intelligence.

Esprit de corps - a French phrase much used by English writers to denote the common spirit pervading the members of a body or association of persons. It implies sympathy, enthusiasm, devotion, and jealous regard for the honor of the body as a whole.

Now is not the time to let yourselves down by coming over all wimpy, is it ?

See you there.....

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.<br />

In practice, there is!

Hi All,

Spoke to Dave Freeman earlier and he's coming down, although sadly not with his Esprit due to an oil leak :sofa: . As Sparky say's the roads look fine and no further rain etc is predicted till late afternoon atm.

My Sat nav reckons you need to turn off left at the junction before stirling corner and then go down Rowley Lane to the A411 and then turn right, the harvester is then the last left before the stirling corner roundabout.

See you all tomorrow

Martyn
