Hi Peter,

Sorry to hear about your dad. My mum died of cancer at 61 a couple of years ago (well it's coming upto 4 which I've only just realised). This was a sudden thing and when we were given the news about her cancer she died 3 day later. She was recovering after having both her legs amputated. Anyway it's not about me it's about you. I suppose it affects us all in different ways. Some people want to talk about it whilst others deal with it better by keeping their feelings to themselves. If you ever need to have a chat in the future, you have my number.

I hope 2009 gets better for you.

Regards,

Dave Walters

Peter, so sorry to read of your loss. I can only echo what others have already said.

I lost my Dad eight years ago and it was totally numbing for quite some time. Try to think of all the really daft things he did, and all the stuff you laughed at, and the things he taught you, and the things you respected him for.

I know this sounds like a really bad cliche, but time, when enough of it has passed, will help you to feel better than you do now.

Just because you can, does'nt mean you should.

Peter, please accept my sincere condolences. Speaking from experience (today is the 1st anniversary of my wife's funeral) you have to take what comfort you can from the support of friends and family while remembering the good times and banishing the not so good from your memory. The pain does start to fade after a while and if you have a personal belief system then you may be able to look forward to a 'reunion' at some time in the future. My thoughts are with you.....

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.<br />

In practice, there is!

Pete--

I don't know you except that you enjoy some of the things I do, but I do know you in the sense that you, at the moment, feel what we all feel when such a loss comes our way. Three weeks ago we thought we would lose my mother, but she did recover and now is on a trip to the Middle East, the Holy Land...It was against my wishes but she and my dad went anyway...for them it may be the last trip although I hope not. You will be in my prayers. Please keep sharing and active and don't isolate yourself.

Best,

Tom
