Thanks Dave

My local shop could order the Fram, do you think it will also fit for an 85 turbo ?

Looks like you have to remove the underbody to change it, is that correct ?

Cheers

Marc,

The earlier cars (without fuel injection) use a different fuel filter, so the part quoted will not work with our cars. I have an 84, and have used Bosch and Purolator fuel filters on my car with no problems. If you can wait until tomorrow (my car is in another location), I can get you the part number that I used....keep in mind that I live in the United States, so might have to cross reference it.

BTW- you'll have to remove the underbody tray to get to the filter, which is located on the exhaust manifold side.

Thanks!

Matt

Thanks Matt

I have already removed the underbody.

Found a Bosch number for earlier Esprit's

71028-0450905030850

Guess that is the one you have. European part number will be different.

I'll have to figure out how to convert between US and European number.

Have found this one that should fit earlier Esprit's, but not sure it will fit in the bracket.

Fram AHG12

Cheers

Have replaced my fuel filter.

the following filter was installed in my 85 turbo Esprit

Bosch 0450905030 (10 digit number for Europe)

US part number : 71028 - 0450905030 850

I have replaced it with an equivalent from FRAM

Fram G3829

This filter fits many vehicles.

Marc-

Glad you found a replacement! I checked where my Lotus is stored, and couldn't find the box that the filter came in! Crawled underneath the car, and the number on the filter was facing the rear bulkhead! Sorry!

Thanks for the part numbers! I will record these for future use! Is this Fram number a universal part number?

Marc (and anyone else on here)-

Here's the part number for the Purolator Fuel Filter on my 84 Turbo:

F60146

I know that in the US, Pep Boys carries them (that's where I picked mine up).

Hi

thanks for your feedback !

Don't know if the Fram is a universal number.

It comes from an European catalogue.

Looks like we can get some alternatives together - that's great

Cheers

I reverse engineered the Fram part number to a Volkswagen passat around 1988 (+ many other Vdubs). This equated to a FF210 in the Halfrauds catalogue (

This seems to be the only thread on fuel filters. However I have an S1 and I have heard the fuel filter(s) are not accessible without cutting a hole in the bodywork and finding some sort of plug to cover the newly created access hole. Wonderful. Anyone here able to confirm this or have any answers? Sounds like the mid 80's cars solved this problem.
