Alan, twelve years ownership says you must love that car, and the carcoon for winter proves it. Lets hope we all get some decent weather here in the UK to enjoy them this year.

Alan,

Welcome to LEF Scotland.

Nice to see you yesterday at MMC and hopefully we can all get together with our cars soon.

I remember your car from The Jim Clark rememberence weekend at Knockhill last year and was blown away by it's condition and the amount of work you have put into it.

Why not post some photographs on the forum to show off your pride and joy?

Regards,

Brian

Looking good Alan and also glad to see you on here. Im hoping we can all meet up soon as Brian suggests and go for a tour in the cars. Mine is going into a repairer (the Lotus specialist in Edinburgh that used to work for Murray Motor Co.) on Saturday to get a new Stainless exhaust system fitted and a few other bits and bobs done . I'm taking it to Le Mans 24hr race in June so I am trying to get everything sorted out just now. Can't wait to get it in and get it back!!!

The tip you gave me at the Club Lotus meeting regarding the petrol fume smell worked.

Morning Alan.

Is this going to be the new place for Scottish Esprit folks to commune then?

Must admit, I've been on LEF since basically the start but typically (for me) just subscribe to one or two topics and only occasionally visit when spurred on by some reason so I kind of missed the fact that the regional sites had been set up.

Hopefully see some of you this year. My MOT is booked for Monday and a new vacuum pump should be arriving on Thursday. Once that's fitted I'll be good to go!

Cheers

Ed

Hi Alan,

The Turbo looks great:)

Its good to see we have quite a few Scottish members here now.

I work overseas so my S2 is taking a while to restore but I hope to have it finished within the next 2 years.

Cant wait to join you all on the streets B)

Hi Ed,

good to hear from you again. If this place gets us all moving again I'm all for it.

Dragged the Esprit out of hibernation this weekend. Removed the Carcoon, stuck on the tax disc, turned the key and away we went !

I'd forgotten what a nice place to be the Esprit is :sofa: .

I'd say the Carcoon is the best

Hi,

Just thought I'd say "Hello!" after returning to Esprit Ownership. Sold my last Esprit for a TVR Cerbera and quickly found out why Lotus Galvanise Chassis parts.

I've bought another 87 Turbo,(my 3rd) and I'm up in Argyll. I'm in the local classic car club, but runs with other Esprits would be nice. I don't often see other Esprits up here, which is a shame. The roads are great.

Sadly I've bought an Esprit with a blown Cylinder Head, so it may be a few weeks before I get going again. I'd like the improved gearchange done at the same time.

Any recommendations for a good independent service place in Scotland? I may just have to go to Murray. I've been trying to get hold of SLS, but it just goes to answer phone.

Cheers

Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Welcome to the Forum and great to hear of another Esprit in Scotland.

How about popping some pictures up and including your car in the registry. REGISTRY CLICK HERE

As for independent specialists in Scotland other than SLS I am not sure.

I have been talking to the new service manager at Murray's about special servicing deals for Esprit owners, which hopefully should be finalised next week. He is taking about a reduced service costs which will include extras. He did a similar thing for the Scottish Elise forum.

In the mean time I am sure he would like to hear from you and given that he is keen to get more Esprit's through the workshop his prices may be quite good and remember to mention your from Lotus Esprit Forum.

His details Craig Moncrieff, Service Manager, Murray Lotus, 0131 200 888 email: [email protected]

Once the holidays are over I will try again to get an Esprit outing in Scotland, hopefully see you then.

Regards,

Brian

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. I phoned Murray at Edinburgh, and I think I will try and get the car down next week and see how it goes.

I'd like to get the gear change improved at the same time and I reckon it's best going to a dealer for all these fairly specialised jobs.

Hopefully have it back in time to enjoy the rest of summer. Can't wait to take the sunroof off and have a blast up Glen Coe....

Thanks again

Kenny

Kenny,

I can recommend Aly at SLS as he has had my car in a couple of times over the last couple of months doing aloot of specialised jobs as well as the SJ Sportscars gear linkage improvement and has made a significant difference. I would recommend you keep trying him as he is always at the garage but takes on alot of work!! He has an assistant now though which should mean he should be able to cope better with the workload he has.

I proabably should have said, I have a Calypso Red 86 Turbo Esprit and I live in Falkirk. You will find my car in the LEF Owners Garage section.

Keep trying Aly as he is great value for money and really takes care of the cars and soes a great job!!

Hi again!

Thanks for the reply, It's ended up going to Murray in Edinburgh after all as I could not get hold of SLS. I'll keep trying for future service work though.

Hope fully looking good though. Murray Lotus reckon a coolant hose and fuel pump have gone and not the head gasket.

Hope so!

I'll get some pictures on the register as soon as it comes back.

Thanks

Kenny
