Spare wheel question

Recommended Posts

I bought a series 2 restoration project the other day and it came with a spare wheel which doesn't look correct to me. It looks like this...

It does say on it 'Spare Only' so is this the correct type of spare for a series 2 because I also have a spare Speedline rim without a tyre which appears to be a front...

So my question is which is the correct one for a series 2 spare?

Thanks, Paul.

thats interesting. Somebody was selling an 'esprit wheel' on ebay the other day. I thought 'thats not an esprit wheel' - but it looked just like that, so maybe it is genuine.

My S2 had an alloy slot mag as a spare.

Any photos of your project?

cheers Steve

Yes it's the proverbial 'barn find'...

and needs a full body off restoration.

Cheers, Paul.

Looks great Paul. I'd love something like to fiddle about with. I hope you aren't going to end up with an S1 & S2 in a 1000 parts...

good luck. cheers Steve

Hehehe I believe if you have two or more in the same garage they breed

It looks like the spare I had in my 1979 S2.

Are you a glutton for punishment, Paul? You are into a extremely detailed and comprehensive S1 restoration and now you have your next body off restoration lined up. I salute your enthusiasm.

Ok thanks all. It looks as though I just have a spare Speedline front rim for some reason then. Oh well not a bad thing I guess!!

Cheers, Paul.

Hi Paul,

Congrats on the purchase - Good Luck!

I think you'll find the Speedline won't fit if you try to use it as a spare and to echo the above, you're first pic is the correct spare for the S2.

Pete
