Oil pressure gauge

Generally you don't expect more than about 1/5th of max pressure at tick-over.

If it's much less than that, is the tick-over too low? Is it the right oil?

Assuming the engine hasn't been re-built for a while it's not unexpected.

Ideally use 10w60 oil and make sure your idle ishigh enough.

Engine and oil fully warmed up, warm summer day, most S1s will have the needle just out of the red area and fully into the green. That spot just above the red is typicaly 15-20 psi. That's with 20W50 or similar.

A new or low mile engine will have higher pressure, as will one with an enlarged oil cooler.

Driving on the expressway at, say, 70 mph, the needle should be around the middle on a summer day, and upwards to the right the cooler the air is outside. Figure the middle of the gauge to be 50-60 psi; the travel of the gauge is not linear.

Hello,

when the oil is good, then check the strainer in the sump. Perhaps that is added. This comes from the service using too much sealant.

I really wouldn't worry too much about oil pressure at tickover...as long as you have good oil pressure under load, say above 3000rpm, the engine should be happy enough. Minimum of 35 psi at 3500 rpm iirc.
