As some may have read, I have lrecently aquired Daniel Waugh V8 Sport350 (#032).

This car has already been brought back to life once by Richard Sadd, after a nasty road accident

which left the car as a Cat-D write-off.

The car then changed hands and unfortunately suffered an engine failure during a spirited drive

on the Nordscheife - details here:

Catastrophic engine failure

The car is now on its way to me here in France. The plan is to bring the car back to life once again

and perform a general tidy-up while the engine is out. There should be some nice surprises along the way..... :D

Here are some images of the car loaded in the UK:

Its a pity about Daniel's circumstances but if the car had to go, then I can't think of a better place.

There should be some nice surprises along the way.....

Having read the previous installments I would be most disappointed if there wasn't!

So, when does Mike Sekinger become 'Lotus Cars Limoges' then? 'cos if mine ever goes bang then I'm sure I would be highly tempted just to pop it on a lowloader and drive it up the A20 :D

Look forward to this thread, yet another enjoyable and educational project from Mr Sekinger :D

Short update today being the weekend.

I have decided to install the recently completed 1997 engine in the S350, in order to hot test it.

In order to make life easier for myself, I removed the engine loom with a view to performing the majority of the connections prior to hoisting the engine into place. Out with the loom...

Dan had done a first class job of labelling the connectors - thanks :popo:

There were a couple of severed connections to make good.

More good news - Posty delivered my new water injection tank... spanky. Now I just have to decide which system to go with.

The beauty of a project like this, is that there is so much to do that you can choose what takes your fancy.

Sunday, I wanted to attend to the damaged from end. This is how the car arrived courtesy of the transport Professionals.

Is that the flywheel I got in the Lotus sale?.......if so.....oops and sorry......I didn't even open the package.

Nice work they did to the front......odd that the damage corresponds with the transporter runners.....I trust they fessed up in the end?

That exhaust came up well.....Nathan could eat his dinner off that!!!

Hey Dan,

No need to apologise for the flywheel. I see that Lotus have a whole load of single plate stuff that there practically giving away.

Mike

The rear hub nut would not budge when it came to removing the drive shafts for engine removal so it got drilled to death until it shifted, and put back temporarily......don't worry, it was never driven like that.

I lent Dave Walters the L bracket for the switches and forgot to put it all back together, so I just threw it in and figured you'd sort it from there :-)

With regards to the ash trays, I should have them here if they're not inside the car.....I'll dig them out and send them to you......unfortunately the PO had the speaker mounts re-upholstered in a none matching blue.....I sent them off to be covered in black leather, and they did a crap job, so they don't fit.

Glad things are progressing anyway.

Mike, the ashtrays are simple GM/Opel Kadet/Calibra parts -you can sort those out and just cover them with the right 'satin paint' or any leather that lotus used... .
