Repairing door<>body loom

Recommended Posts

i know i've post on this before but I'm really stuck and any ideas welcome.

I've been trying to replace the sleeving on the wiring loom that passes from the body shell to the door, though the hinge assembly... as per the directions on LEW...

The problem is, I've removed the wiring from the door, replaced the sleeving. but I can't push the excess loom back into the body! I've been trying for hours, and all I've managed to do is make a mess of my hands!

Everyone I've spoken to suggests 'pulling' from the other side, but i can only just get my fingers to the back of the grommit and can't pull on the cable...

Any ideas. PLEASE... Should I remove the A-pillar internal trim, does this give access to the cavity from where i can pull the cable?

The only other thing I can think is removing the whole dash... :D

Find a kid and promise them a spin around the block when it's fixed. Not only do they have smaller arms / hands, but at a push, they can even bend their bones to gain access without breaking!

I've sorted it! :D

Theres a vertical tie rod which keeps the cable in place against the hinge... I was able to undo this quite easily & from then on - it was quite straighforward.

Thanks for the ideas (can find my can of silicon spray anywhere..)
