Sat in the cafe at Magnac Laval on the Wi Fi. Just wanted to say a big thanks to all who came down. Myriam and I have had a truly brill time and it's been a real pleasure to see Cliff (GGHC87), Graham (GKP) and Tony (Loteuk) again. Another pleasure to meet Neil (Neill1607) and his wife Dawn for the first time who came down from Jersey, and also Cliff's Ronart mates, Tony, Freddie and Mario, lovely people.

Tony your wife Julie is lovely, wonderful to meet her, hope you guys made it on to your next stop safely. Thanks for video-ing some wonderful hooning and hopefully some good footage of a certain Eclat Riviera being used in the way it's maker intended.

Cliff, don't forget to mail the pics of the Wallabie for Myriam (yes everyone there was a Wallabie in residence at the local B & B!!)

I've had to make a special trip to the recycling dump to get rid of all the bottles!!

Here's us Wed eve

Here's us Thur eve!

And finally a sad moment (for me anyway!), some of the guys leaving. If you like nice exhaust notes control yourselves!

I'm sure the others will post more photos, but a great time was certainly had by me, and next time (yes there will be one!) hopefully we'll have a few more.

Regards

Mat

Awesome, awesome week. I made it home in time for breakfast this morning, after having a great time down in rural France. Mat has introduced us to some of the local delights, some more sombre than others, but most of which seemed to include a meal and a beer. I've been for a ride in a Ronart, I've been for a ride in an Eclat Riviera. I've even been for a ride in a VW Transporter... We had lots of runs in the wonderful French countryside, enjoyed Bastille Day fireworks in Confolens by the side of the Vienne and rocked along with Mat while he jammed at a local bar. We popped into historic Angoulême (for lunch - obviously!) and the gardens at Limoges (Les jardins de l'Evêché). There was time for reflection at Oradour sur Glane and a chance to aquire a sunburnt nose at Dorat during the mooching for some local produce.

The cowbells sent me to sleep at night, the cockrel woke me up in the morning. Idyllic.

Did I mention the fantastic French roads, the very appreciative and accomodating French drivers and the frequent cafe/bar stops? :bounce:

It was great to meet some new faces and catch up with some old friends too. If you missed out on this one, trust me, you missed out.

Many, many thanks to Mat and Myriam for hosting a brilliant TLF event.

2011? France is there all year, let's go again tomorrow...

A couple of extra pics I've just remembered from my phone (obviously they're very low res):

moto_0304.jpg

moto_0297.jpg

moto_0298.jpg

These two are from our visit to Oradour sur Glane, the scene of some particularly viscious Nazi activities in WW2. The whole town remains as it was left by the retreating German soldiers as a memorial to those who perished. These cars were in buildings that were burned (like the whole village) in an attempt to hide any evidence of wrongdoing:

I popped into Mt St Michel on the way back to Caen, for a spot of afternoon nibbles. The Ronart drivers have left an indellible impression on my travelling style. As I parked up in the rudimentary carpark at Mt St Michel, a bloke walked past me and said "I've not seen that car since Castle Combe." Completely floored me! :bounce: Hello to you, whoever you may be.:)

What a fantastic week. Big. big, big, big thanks to Mat & Myriam for their amazing hospitality. The week just flew by and was left at the end of the week wanting more. It was great to see old friends and meet new in an idyllic setting.

Anyone not there, big mistake, massive, huge.

Welcoming BBQ, country drives, sombre reminders of days past, charming towns with friendly locals, local bars, restaurants, live music courtesy of Mat and Mario, friendly drivers waving us on our way, lots of beer, wine and anything else really. Quick car repairs day and night including useful video lights, amazing filmed hoons. Perfect.

The Guest house we stayed at was excellent with large stylish bedrooms and a guest common room with its own kitchen, breakfast and living area. Very welcoming hosts and yes a garden full of cats, dogs, chickens and Harry the Wallabie.

Thanks to Mat, Myriam, Graham, Tony, Julie, Niell, Dawn, Tony , Freddie and Mario for such a lovely amazing TLF meet.

Back at work so I've finally got a decent internet connection!

Huge thanks from Dawn & me to everyone for making the trip such a great experience, but especially Mat & Myriam.

Mat really pulled out the stops to fill everybody's time with different experiences, enjoyable company, some fun drives & he's not a bad cook - superb host.

See you next time.

Great pictures, France is such a lovely place, very envious of you Mat.

GKP, what was the Argocat doing at Mont St Michel? I've always had an irrational fancy for one of these, must be the early Banana Splits influence!

I think they must use it for rescuing stranded tourists who get cut off by the incoming tide. I've not seen it there before so I assume it's a new toy, they were certainly treating it as such as they spent 10 minutes hosing it down before putting it to bed.

Thank you Lou, credit must also go to the guitarist Seamus. He's only 13, and if he decides to start playing Jimmy Hendrix, if you shut your eyes you can't tell the difference. Very impressive!

I currently have 3 of my sisters staying with me and the entertainment tonight will be more of the same.

Regards

Mat
