Louise
Smashing indeed. I came home to find Graham with a curiously large plaster on his leg. ''Good day dear?....''
Iconic Ride
Oops... Hang in there, Graham. According to some interpretations of quantum theory the roof will spontaneousy reassemble itself.......in about 1 and a half times the age of the Universe, give or take an epoch or two. Advantage
I bought the roof as a bare panel from Capn Mike on here a fair few months ago. After having it sitting around for a while I eventually made a list of all the screws, widgets and brackets needed to fit it to my car. A box of these turned up a couple of weeks ago so it was time to fit the roof up. I decided to do it in the conservatory as there's a lot of light in there and obviously I can use the sofa to rest the glass panel on to save it from being scratched on the workbench. Must've pinched the glass when fitting one of the front lugs. BANG! Jeeze that stuff can certainly shift. Everywhere. Including my leg. Quite pleased it wasn't my eyes. Paul C
If it's any consolation... In my experience the glass roof heats you up to the point of insanity, and if you manage to recover without robbing the post office in the nude or biting the veins out of your wrists, you'd be looking all over the wanted section for a composite or carbon one. Removable composite is fine, but unscreened glass? Not even ferrari were that vacant. I'd be willing to bet the Esprit is the only mid engine supercar ever made that has a full glass sunroof and no blinds to stop the sun from making you burn? Betcha it is. Aside from the Cat and EBPV, it think the glass roof was the most hated item on my SE, hence it went carbon, and transformed the car as a nice place to be. There, its good you bust it and saved the madness.
rocket63
Glad your ok Pilko. Roof can be replaced, eyesight not. Advantage
There, its good you bust it and saved the madness. Nooo, my last three Esprits (two V8s and an SE) have all had glass roofs. I love 'em. It's not the end of the world, but I'm gutted about this.

andydclements
You could do a leaded glass one, you have some of the raw material, it would probably only take a few hours (thousands of).
molemot
Or (blood) stained glass?!! Easy done, that sort of instant destruction..a little bit TOO much pressure and, as you say, BANG! Nothing quite so final has so far happened to me, but I did once manage to acquire a new screen for a Moto Guzzi Mk.1 Le Mans...and then cracked it by overtightening the fixing screws!! Bibs
I'm still owed the glass roof from my car, just not been past Hull in the last couple of years to collect it. I'm sure we can work something out Pilko and it's already full fitted with fittings so you won't have to ask an adult to help next time too.
