How old does fuel have to be to 'go off' as such?

eg - fuel kept in a Jerry Can in the garage. How long will this keep for? a week, a month, a year?

If it does 'go off' in time, is there any way of telling? After what period of time would you not use it?

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk - that will teach us to keep mouth shut!

Interesting topic but with the espprit fuel does not last long enough. Not sure why the question as I am alway concerned about storing fuel.

Last time I stored fuel and used it for lighting a Bon fire I nearly killed myself. If you have an old can full then I would dispose of it legally.

So it's no good for lighting fires, and it may hurt your engine, easy call really.

Here's an interesting true story, members name kept secret:

A member of this forum (no it's not me!) filled his Esprit up with Diesel by mistake.

He drained the tanks and was left with two large plastic containers full of a rather

useless mix of pertrol and diesel. What to do with them?

In what he described to me as 'a moment of panic', he buried them...

:unworthy:

...in his own back garden.
