Today I received our 10th request by email for an LEF calendar so thought perhaps I should ask if it's a good idea since it appears to be a popular one. There are already calendars on the market and I'm aware and sympathetic to this when it comes to making a decision but with quiet a few people asking if we'll do one then perhaps it's an idea.

Thoughts please. :)

I vote yes, but short runs can be expensive.

I say no as LEW never seemed to make any money or sell that many. Many people may enquire but how many will actually buy?

A cost per run would be good info that way we know in advance the costs and we know the cost factor based upon a minimum order versus a larger order. I would not place the order until all payments had been received and any extra monies can be applied to membership or goodwill towards running of the site?

Depends on the "nekkid wimmen" content, Trevor. :) Car porn alone can only draw in the "break-even" crowd at best. Toss in some stone fox eye candy for visual embellishment, and it's profit city in no time. Heck, the car shows do it all the time. They just give the ladies a mic to hold to make it look "official like." :(

Its a great idea Bibs. I would echo the concern of cost vs those of us that actually buy. A non refundable deposit up front to ensure commitment would be desirable I would have thought.

There is also potential conflict of sales with the LEW calender as well?

Caught between a rock and a hard place in a catch 22 situation, So its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Your damned if you do, but your damned if you don't so shut your cock!!!!!!!!!!!

Open market sales? is that a possibility, could be worth a phone call to a publisher or something?

I like calendars, but I've only ever bought 1 LEW calendar in 5 or 6 years.

My vote would be yes but only if its financially viable.

I think David might be on to something, because as a relatively new person to all of this, I opened this post thinking "hasn't LEF done a calender before?" I do agree that if both are publishing one, it probably would only split the market.

...unless LEF corners the market as per John's suggestion :)

The problem with this poll is interpreting the result. If 100 people vote, and it's 50/50, do you take that as half of LE members would be likely to buy, or perhaps just 50 members likely to buy, or 50 think it would be a good idea but only a few would buy one.

I'm not a calendar person (Yes. I know it explains my issues with time management / wrong days etc), but, doubt I'd buy an LEF and an LEW one if I was, so you could end up splitting the market as David suggests, and that's unlikely to help with funding the printing costs of an LEF calendar.

Hmmm. Perhaps deposits should be taken before anything is printed? Nothing secures commitment like a bit of cash.

I would buy one, at them moment i have a rubbish batman calendar on my notice board. I have never bought the LEW one as I dont subscribe to LEW and its ways so LEF is not in competition in my view.

And if it is then so what, Kato doesnt have 1st rights on the calendar market.

Second, who says it will be cars. At the weekend I am sure I heard the LEF babes talking about doing a calendar hehe, like the WI one which had buns covering their buns. :)

Not sure Lisa would get her tits out for a calendar but she is partial to showing off her C**T

Think everyone saw more than enough of it Saturday night whilst Bibs was throwing around the potato salad!

We are of course assuming that hte market is internal only in order to recover the costs, but taking a wider view if it contains cars then there could be a market outside of LEF.

There are many calanders on the market around xmas time, I am sure the producers of this would welcome new pictures (i for one are fed up with cats and dogs etc) we may be able to do a deal with them ie we provide full set of pictures ( and get calanders free) they use them to sell to the public. - SIMPLES

Worth an investigation I think.

Yup - I think 12 owners should volunteer to go tastefully 'tackle out' with their cars. With Bibs on the front.

British Fart to Florida, Nude to New York, Dunce to Denmark, Numpty to Newfoundland.  And Shitfaced Silly Sod to Sweden.

Just to add, when we were first asked about doing a calendar I looked in to costs and numbers. We can get any amount of calendars printed from as few as 10 at a time it just means we'd be charging a little more for them. The maximum cost would be around

Why not have all the images available on-line ( secure ) so that people can choose the 12 they want for their calendar.

They select the 12, & eshop places the order

Makes it very personal.

Unlike Laura, I do like the naked ladies.

Unlike Laura, I don't want to see 12 chaps displaying their manhood ( in Laura's defence she didn't say she did too. Just an assumption on my part)

Perhaps 5000 individual calendars would contravene the cost objective though.

Just a thought

down load seems like a good no risk option for Bibs too.

Most of us access to a good printer so that would be a very cost effective way of doing it!!

Oh and I'M NOT INTERESTED IN LOOKING AT HAIRY BEAN BAGS EITHER!!!!!
