Phew, I wish there had been a sub text to that title, I thought it was something to do with his retirement or worse.

Good article, but didn't he have a narrow escape in Chapman's plane whilst commuting to Ital Design too?

An inspirational man, top stuff MJK.

It is fascinating to read the potted history of Mike Kimberley. Lotus owes a great deal to him and his efforts keeping one of our most important local companies going - especially in the current climate! Back in the 70's and 80's I ran an engineering company supplying Lotus with jigs and trollies for the paint shop plus engine assembly jigs. I remember the especially devoted attention that the early Esprits got - rather like a bespoke coachbuilder!

Little did I expect to become an Esprit enthusiast later in life when my son bought his first V8SE. Now I follow the contributions of owners worldwide by reading the Forum. MJK's influence is typical of the enthusiam which is unique to the Esprit which is surely one of the best looking cars of all time. Keep up the good work! tonyc

Thanks for that, Bibs.

So few individuals end up in the occupation they were born to do. No Thomas Hobbes "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short" life of man here, no Jack London "I was a proper work beast," rather a rising above circumstances that might easily have led to such a life. I now have an even greater appreciation for the man, knowing some of the hurdles he has had to overcome. Truly the right person to have at the helm of Lotus, an icon in his own right. Huzzah!

Great man, MJK! :) And just as important to Lotus' history and our beloved Esprits as Mr. Chapman, IMHO.

. . . . by the way, I WANT that Evora!

What book?

We have been collecting material for his Autobiography for some time. Maybe now we'll get more time to do it.

eerr....so we aren't just going to let him leave on Friday are we? So as we, in his words 'are ambassadors' what are we going to do to thank MJK for his years at Lotus?

Surely we have to have some celebration?!

I wish you a happy retirement & will always remember the day you told me all about Colin Chapman.
