Polished my other car today

Recommended Posts

No big deal this post, just wanted to show a few pics of my "family car" - my other drive. Audi A4 1,8 turbo quattro S (sports). I spent the day polishing and pampering.

I like this car. Looks sharp. Less fussy than the A7/A8 platform.

Got to hand it to you Atle. Looking Good. You have reached 'expert' in the polishing department.

Good work.

presumably you have a part time job as a car brochure photographer as well as car polisher!!

Haha thanks! I enjoy photography - just got a Nikon D80 with Nikkor 18-55 mm, 70-300 mm and a Sigma 10-20. The trick with these photos are to do like when taking portraits; I use the 70-300 at maximum zoom, standing as far away as possible. I avoid direct sunlight, this was late in the evening. Afterwards I sharpen the picture in Photoshop, add some saturation and contrast, adjust the levels slightly and voila! Another trick is to turn the front wheels, gives more movement and shows off the nice rims.

Polishing, yeah. One of my neighbours (an old bag of 75 with a nasty, raspy voice) always shows up on her balcony when I play with my cars, smoking and staring down at me without me knowing until she suddenly blares out my name so I jump. "You at it again!?" She croaks. "What makes a man do what you do? Your car doesn't need polishing at all!" And so on and so forth. Every time. She is a pain in the rear end! Why can't she just shut up and leave me alone with my hobbies? Pampering my cars is my therapy. Hers is sitting inside watching sports on TV all day long. At least I provide some excitement in her life. Once she even made a pass at me, the old wrinkled piece of skin. Nuts.

BTW that's the B7/B8 platform it is supposed to say in the first post. Not "A".

My mother thinks you're "hot," Atle. She keeps wondering why you won't offer to take her for a drive in the Esprit!:)

Ha! If that would finally shut her up I will do it! I could scare her brains out, leaving her speechless.

Reminds me, a few days ago she asked if I could take pictures of her spread out on the bonnet, like a cover girl. "Wow, that would be great!" If you had seen her you would understand the vulgarity, I felt physically ill. I guess we all are like that, even me - failing to realize ones age, changes in body, attitude and equivalent lost attraction among the younger. I forget I am not 35 anymore. But she has forgot she is not 72 anymore!

I think you should do the shoot, Atle, 12 pics in all, turn it into a Calendar and send it over to "Pistonheads." :fun::)

First a breathtaking driving spree, then a panzer-photo shoot with a numb, disoriented dinosaur in thongs? That's hysterical!

Atle - your Audi shines up well - I cannot find you on the map, but if you are near Oslo, I think I used to know one of your Porsche neighbours. My Norwegian customers Erik and Olav always had exotic cars which is uncommon in your highly taxed country! They, however, were friendly and would recognise an Esprit as something desirable. I found your model website fascinating! My son has a V8SE Esprit which cleans up well. tonyc

Atle - thanks for your reply and I hope that you and your daughter enjoy your trip to London. I always liked visiting Norway {we has customers in Skadsmokorset and Bergen].

My interest in Lotus currently is through my son Paul who has an Esprit V8SE [his third Esprit]. My other son had a succession of 3 Audi quattros back in the eighties, forunners to your current saloon, they were frightenly quick too!

I have had a succession of Jaguars and Range Rovers over the years. I recently posted a picture of the Lotus and my cars on the forum under the "ill show you mine" section. We live in Norfolk - home of Lotus.

Best regards, tonyc

Atle - I have just found your entry in the owner's garage section - what an immacculate car!

My son's first Esprit was an S3 turbo in red with magnolia upholstery, but it never was as perfect as yours. He bought a new V8SE in 2000 in Azure blue with tan interior, but this was wrecked in 2003. He replaced it with his current 2001 V8SE in cobalt blue with blue interior.

See paul@thewatermill in the owners garage section. tonyc
