Limo time.

Last day at school today for one of my daughters and this was the scene outside her school this afternoon. 9 of them parked up taking kids for a drive.

Whilst the kids all enjoyed themselves, I've actually been dead against this for some time. This is, believe it or not, only a Junior School! I could have been open to this idea for the kids leaving Senior School as a treat, but why this got started at our Junior School I shall never know (or maybe its the 'grumpy old man syndrome' raising its head in me again) Very difficult to say No when every friend is in one though. Things have obviously changed a bit since my day.

Glad they enjoyed it but never really seen the attraction to Limo's anyway - Gloryfied Taxi's.

Truth be known, I did like the Lambo doors on the Chrysler.

Well, I'd never pay for one, but....

A mate of mine used to operate two or three of these for a nightclub owner. A few years ago when we went to Venice with him and his wife, he arranged for us four to be taken from Bromley to Heathrow in a big black 120" stretch caddy (like the white one in Ian's pic). As an auto experience it was fairly neutral - interestingly big, well equiped and tasteless in a glitsy way but not especially comfy (on the J seat) and obviously not quick.

The more memorable part of the experience was being the centre of attention. It was a different sort of attention to if you drive a nice car - where the car is the star. There was no real intrerest in the car, but an unnaturally obsessive interest to see who was inside and if we were famous or just wannabies. I found the whole thing particularly after arriving at Heathrow just invasive so wont ever do it again....but then I'm a recluse whereas others really like that stuff.

I think the attraction is that the hire charge can be split between a party of 10, so you arrive at you venue ostentatiously for less than the cost of a black cab.

Do you think she's got a taste for the celeb lifestyle now??

It's gone a long way since i was fifteen:

I guess it's nice that kids make a big deal of it, in my town too

we have seen cavalcades of limo's hummers etc. It has to be

a top night out for them.

I have not seen my exam results since the day they dropped

on my mum and dads doorstep, and aside from my tufty club

and lego builders club certificates, they are the longest held and

least significant awards i hold, i don't know where they are even.

How times have changed. Get them the best cars you can mate.

I envy them their school leaving!

Otherwise, a set-up with those limos at junior school would have made a huge scandal in Norway. The public (or more correctly "media") are hyped and obsessed with the climate change subject (and fitness and traffic problems), and the pupils are flooded with "walk or bike to school" propaganda all year around (even though we have no sidewalks for the kids). Yeah, this would have made big noise in the press.

Well it's either photoshopped or they have managed to park at the exact point

the fence posts are unevenly spaced, AND they have managed to park so the

posts meet the headrests in exactly the same place...

Seriously though.... if the Esprit creation shown was a bit shorter and on 4 wheels it would make a likely competitor for Aston Martin's or Porsche's new 4 door cars! The Esprit has always been a beautiful shape. Well done, whoever created the picture! tonyc

This ones for real! A guy in Cheshire did it. The story is Ferrari went to court to try and get him to remove all the badges and logos as they didn't want to be associated with it.
