Swine Flu

Hi All,

started to feel ill yesteday morning but soldiered through work even with dodgy insides. Lots of aches and pains but struggled on. Came home and went down hill fast, really bad fever over night and today, so I called the GP.They reckon its Swine Flu or very likekly. Currently i have no insides left and what came out after lunch has me worried lol!!, I am fluctuating between hot sweats and freezing fever symptoms. Its very very bad. A friend has picked up my Tamiflu prescription as I am effectively quarentined.

Even if this is normal flu its one hell of a bastard.

Hope you dont get this, it really isnt pleasant.

Alex

I am coming into direct contact with people who have swine flu.

:(

Now the students have 'gone' the buildings are empty and i can pop from

room to room doing maitenance much faster than when they were here.

I've gone though some empty bulidings these last few weeks fitting low

energy light fittings, but strangely in each building there was one or two

rooms that still had an overseas student in, no problem as i still did the

work, just took a bit longer with them and their stuff in there.

Was talking to a porter and said how nice and quiet it was (and how loud

it would be the next week when the american summer schools roll in for

a month). I mentioned there were still some students left ot go first.

He said that they still had a few students left that were more or less confined

to their rooms due to swine flu and would travel home later.

It's nice to be told eh? Just don't bother telling your contractors and let

them move from room to room, moving peoples stuff about to do the work,

no warning, no 'wash your hands' if you go in there advice, nothing.

Cheers.

Hmmm, last I heard Tamiflu was ineffective against the ol' H1N1. Nevertheless, hope you get better soon.

Hope you're feeling better by now, Alex. Doesn't contracting H1N1 give you immunity against later outbreaks, sort of like a "real man's" vaccine? If so, you're ahead of the game now, as it's supposed to [potentially at least] come back with a vengeance in the Fall. I've amost completed my underground bunker, just have to lay in provisions. :(

Thanks guys, i like the idea of real mans immunisation lol.

Simon send the nurse/helper/entertainer/sexpot as illustrated above around as soon as possible, i am convinced that medicine will really get me up.

Thanks to your Dad hehe naughty boy.

I'm still alive

All the best for a swift recovery Alex! If it is an immunisation, can you sneeze into little bottles and post them to others? * :D

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this a week or so after you've recovered. I don't doubt that it's a nasty bout of 'flu, but we've had a three month media frenzy telling us we're all going to die. Call me a cynic, but it still looks like a 'no news day' story to me. Nobody so far has compared the number of swine 'flu deaths with general 'flu deaths - after all, isn't it winter in the southern hemisphere, so surely it's 'flu season there? :(

Yesterday the NHS website was overrun by concerned members of the public. Why? Because after 3 months of whipping us up into a doomsday frenzy, the media spent all day yesterday telling us that the self-diagnosis website would go live in the afternoon. What a surprise that it fell over due to demand!

Dan.

(*) I had this strange thought process that went from sneezing in little bottles to sneezing in hankies to sneezing in japanese schoolgirls' knickers, like the vending machines in Tokyo supply... Fortunately I chose not to share this with you all :rtfm:

Get well soon! Contracted it on my last little outing through Europe and the UK, knocked my socks off for a week and felt like crap for 3 weeks afterwards but managed to survive and did not attack the Tamiflu packs I already had on hand.

Is being stuck at home with swine flu boaring?

:)

I got it Paul - oink oink. Sounds like more time on LEF to me.

Some medical boff on the radio yesterday stated that 1 person in 3 would have caught it by end September.

Hope you are feeling better Alex.

It's people like me that are the danger IMO.

(no, not because off that business at the school)

:)

But because i'm one of those folk that will no doubt carry it unawares

and pass it around. For example i have not had a day off sick, not one

day, since i was an apprentice over 20 years ago.

Things that cripple folk pass through me as a snivel, i get the odd bad

cold and in my case especially sore throats. But it can't be by fluke that

i have avoided everything over the past 20 years, especially in the work

enviroment i'm in at the university, that puts me in direct contact with

thousands of people, their rooms, their bathrooms etc.

I have absolutely no idea who my doctor is. Joking aside i think thats all

a bit weird and a bit too flukey. I touch wood as i type 'never been to a

hospital, never broke a singel bone' despite 20 years on site.

Maybe i have some higher purpose? I must walk here among you for a

reason. I can only assume there will be some event in my future, your

futures, or indeed the future of the whole human race, in which i will have

an instrumatic part to play.

It is my longheld belief i am here to save you.
