Looking for GT3 or S4S

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After having to sell my beloved GT3 back in 2003 due to financial circumstances I have finally managed to fulfil my promise made to myself at that time that I will again own a GT3. I am also delighted that the better half is now similarly enthused by the prospect (I have truly 'earned' my way back having done all the DIY - kitchen bathrooms, bedroom etc - you can think of !.

I have been looking and viewing but have not yet found the right one. I have also tried to trace my previous one (ref. my registry entry) but it seems to have vanished.

I would prefer the V8 dashboard, so 98 ish (I believe none of the S4S's got the later dash and the interior is actually the only thing that makes me hesitate with the S4S - am i wrong to be so 'superficial' in my aspirations ?).

Needs to be stunning colour - purely a matter of personal preference of course and i don't want to upset anyone but i find i am not keen on yellow or green.

I would like a 'cherished' car - preaching to the converted here, I know.

Been looking usual places: PistonHeads, Autocar, e-bay.

So, my friends; does anyone have any leads that might take me down the right road (dreadful metaphor, sorry) ?

Well as Loose Cannon pointed out on another thread there is an interesting mauve GT3 at Peter Smith Sports cars. This looks good with low reported miles

And also the azure blue GT3 on Bibs' link, I considered this car before buying mine a few years back when it was for sale at a car dealers up Manchester way. Seems a nice tidy one too

Personally my favs are Azure blue, as per mine :(, and titanium although not seen many titanium ones for sale. There was several azure ones for sale when I was looking for mine both early and late interiors. Electric green also looks good in the flesh I think  although it appears Jonno disagrees

Pics will follow once i pick the Esprit up next week (one of the benefits ofcourse of buying from someone like Peter smith is that the car gets a thorough overrall/service and corrections of minor issues etc - at least that what i managed tio negotiate)

As for meets - definitely on for that, and this includes the Le Mans Classique in 2010 (attending the last one in 2008 is what inspired me to get back into ownership because I visited as a passenger-only - and in a BMW would you believe !)

Fight, fight, fight!

(Ian, the GT3 doesn't need it, it's got a huge transom for lift reduction, saw it off!)

You guys......

Never mind the lift reduction......it looks great; I had a spolier on my last one too (as you see from my profile pic): Personally - I think they just look naked without it and you would not want to get out on the street nude would you ?

PS - Bibs - how about sub-sections of the Forum for the 'well dressed' owners and the 'nude owners' (tee he)?

No LED's there mate, athough now you come to mention it hmm  ...did play about with LEDs on the electric green GT3 but it tripped the ABS light but as I have the later ABS and should put in a load resistor...hmmm Pilko is the LED god round here mind you :D

So any chance you can make it to Dunsfold at the end of the month?, love to see your motor in the flesh so to speak :D Would be worth joining up SLEGS and even LEF London
