Bloody thermostat!

Hi,

i know its the seasonto be jolly and all been christmas and that!

yesterday having finished work early i got the chance to put the

new water pump and cam belt tensioner and cam belt on!

all went well and only took a few hours however on the warming up stage

i new full well that the thermostat was sticking! bugger i stopped the car

and had to go and drop of presents! not in the lotus i might add!

got back today and pulled the thermostat out and dropped in kettle boiled water and did not open! good that it eliminates any other problems but i must of

fitted about 3 or four in the last few years!

i read on a few post that you cant run the esprit with the thermostat out, but is there anyway of reworking it in thre stuck open postion! anyone think this is a bad idea!

suggestions much appreciated! or if anyone knows where they sell reliable stats! however i might be to blame for this stat sticking due to it been left on my workbench for abouit three weeks while the pump was been reconditioned!
