Slade's new TR pics

The key has a BL logo, so naturally it was broken (loop disintegrated). Wish I remembered to take a pic of that.

Anyways. Ever seen a TR7 with no rust? It's a laurel badge 80, not an 81.

The car is full of my Uncle's cigarette butts and ancient cassette tapes (he was a DJ at a radio station). The top's in good condition. A few dents. Brakes are wonky. Filled the tires with runflat, rolled her on the trailer, dumped her in my shop. Work to do as you can see, but nothing's missing.

DSCN0831.jpg

"TRZ" a clever addition by my uncle, but the car outlasted the electrical tape. Also pictured- mysterious dent, and stereotypical BL paint run.

DSCN0825.jpg

Distraught over condition of tartan seatcovers. but the dash is uncracked, the interior is nice and has plenty of spare bits for the Lotus.

Engine- Fuel Injection. It really ought to run. It's complete. It ran in 1995

The car is equipped, tastefully, with a luggage rack and every piece of parking lot ding protection the dealership could find. The paint is nice other than the dents. It needs minilites.

Merry Christmas to me.

Will report back.

Slade I love that car :D

The steering wheel is a Moto-lita from England :)

Mega shame about the seats :P

Try finding some from a Coupe they lasted better(shaded from the sun) :P

Put all the cigarette butts in a bag and send them to your friend Tiegan

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

too bad that someone took a bite out of it! :D I'm guessing buying a new one will be more worthwhile than retrimming the old wheel... It looks a lot better than the alternative wheel style I've seen at least... the nasty, eternally rotting plastic one.

Sentimental stuff found in car- For some reason, stashed in the glovebox, was a birthday card I'd given him when I was 4, complete with a picture of sexy 4 year old Slade (from 1989). Who knows why he kept it in his car for 6 more years until he died. Because I have to turn everything touching around and make it into something awful, I can only assume he was a pedophile, which kind of explains a lot of things about me :P At least he had good taste. If I could go back in time, I would do me too. I was gorgeous.

His wallet was in the car. No money, but there was a blockbuster card.

Demo tapes for countless bands... him being a DJ that makes sense. Tapes of his morning show and tapes of audio cues from the radio station... A SH!TLOAD of cologne in a bag in the trunk, creepily also, reciepts for the last supply of insulin he ever bought (which he never took... which is why he died).

Oh yeah, and full servicing records, dating back to 1980 when my aunt got the fenders buffed at the dealership. :P Service records 6 inches thick, in a folder marked "shit I'm supposed to keep".

Most disturbingly, a Kathy Lee Gifford cassette that he got free from the lady herself when he interviewed her on his radio show.

There's shloads more random shit that I still have to clean out of the car, but it's all really sticky and I'm really in no mood to touch it. I'm pretty sure my uncle was a huge pothead and I'm looking forward to finding his bong in the car. My relatives would be apalled. In all honesty I think my uncle Gary was the only person in my family I could have ever gotten along with, and I'm sorry he died. Glad to have his car.

A toucing picture of someone now out of reach. Its surprising that you need to lose someone to appreciate the persona.

I also like the styling of the TR7 , Good luck with it.

Hey, Slade. How come the paint on the headlamp pods isn't bubbling along the front edges? Mine started a year from new?

Apart from the interior it looks in not too bad a condition. Time to put Rimmer Brothers' web site in your favorites.

Hey Trev,

Don't worry, it's hard to see but the paint on the pods is just about bubbling  other than that, (and on the gash on the rocker on the driver's side...) the car don't got no rust, great thing about Cali if there is any (wait... you're from here too). Even the (more recent apparently) ding above the wheelarch hasn't got a trace of the stuff.

The car spent most of its life up in Chico, and since 1995 was stored in a garage in Orange.

Contemplating a change to smaller brit style bumpers eventually... but don't know yet. Rear bumper has a sticker I'd like to preserve, so I'll be keeping it.

Also, I've got a slightly bent top bow on the passenger's side... but it shouldn't be a problem.

Rimmer's bookmarked :)

Guest Troy Halliday

My friend has a mint TR8 which he is restoring to concourse. He says he is not but he can't help himself already the bills are flying in for new parts. His TR4 is so clean that you could eat your dinner of it. That goes for under the car and yep just about everywhere.

Good luck with it anyway. If you get stuck for parts PM me and I'll ask Howard for you.
