SWLC Open Day 26th September

Recommended Posts

Most of you probably already know that South West Lotus Centre have their open day on the 26th September. I received their promotion postcard this morning and it states that they will have the Noble M600 there. So may be worth a visit to see if it looks better in the flesh than the publicity photos previously posted on LEF.

James mentioned this to me the last time I was there with the Carlton. Trouble is (as I told him) I'm already booked onto the SLOC track day at the Llandow circuit on 26th so wont be able to get down and see the Noble. Great shame!

I think there's still space on the track day if you want to try your car out properly Peter :doc:

I'm not sure - I've got to take the BMW to Truro on Saturday for a new rear side window which appears to have mysteriously shattered whilst parked on my drive....

I suspect that'll take the best part of a day to fit as I know you have to take most of the interior out first!

Hi Rick,

Thanks for posting the photos. I stupidly forgot my camera.

Sorry for not chatting much during the event. I bumped into the guy who I purchased my Esprit from and he wanted to see his old car again. Hence my disappearing act. Hopefully will get some time to be more social at the next South West event.

Regards,

Peter.

No. That was the real thing!

That car is off to Top Gear today for a thrashing so no doubt JC will have his say on it.

The concensus of opinions from people we spoke to was it looks like a stretch Elise in a foul colour. The interior was all carbon fibre and total function rather than style. The stereo was Nakamichi (I didn't know they did in car stuff) but that was the closest thing to luxury it could boast.

1 of those or 2 DB9's or 10 late model Esprits

No contest. Esprit every time for me, although if you want extreme speed and a disgusting colour the Noble will do you fine.

Good pics Rick (puts mine to shame so no need to post now :rtfm: ) apart from my sorry looking Esprit parked out of sight round the back. Brings a tear to my eye justing thinking about my bill! Rear suspension looks incredibly high without the engine in.

Think thats the most people I've seen at a SWLC open day. Lots of nice motors but as you said, a lack of Esprits. Thanks to SWLC who also kept us well fed and watered.

Thanks for doing the driving Rick.

Was a top day all round.

Next year we should plan a mass Esprit take over and show these Noble chaps what we are about !!

Maybe even aim for an Esprit car park. you never know mine may be working by then

Not a problem for driving... although I kept expecting you to hit the dashboard and then tell me I failed.

what's up with yours? I thought it was just the ECU....

Lol - That was 3 SWLC visits ago Tim.

They have had it since the week after the Fleat Air Arm visit. New Petrol tank fitting was first on the agenda after a fuel smelling garage and house - now fitted. Engine has not been rehoused yet as it was also found both Turbos need to be sent away for work - so now waiting for the return of them.

Sorry to have missed this one - looks like even better turn out than last year. Great pictures.

As you know, I was at Llandow which was also pretty good! Hope you dont mind Rick, but I nicked one of your pics (third from the bottom) to post on the Sunbeam Lotus OC spotted section. From what I can see of the reg...that car was last known to be resident in Essex. Its a bit hard to be certain of the number from the post tho...is it ABC435W? Did anyone meet the owner?

...And where did those two Carltons come from? I know that Phil was rebuilding the engine on one...but not two!

(Sorry to hear the woe is ongoing Ian - not much left now that's not had recent attention!)

Hi Mike,

I didn't knowingly meet the Sunbeam owner.

The Carlton on the right is the customer car that has had its engine rebuilt. This may be a bit harsh, but it is a real dog, scratches, loose body kit, very worn interior. Not a patch on your departed one. The one on the left is for sale at just under
