Which discs do I need - '83 S3

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am needing a set of new brake discs, but a little unsure of which size to order.

My car is a 1983 S3 (N/A) and the guy doing to repair work said it's a changeover year so doesn't know what EBC option discs will fit.

I wondered if anyone on here could help me out and tell me what options I have

Many thanks

simon

Hi Simon,

As your car is listed as an 83 G car it should not be on the change over that happened in 85> onwards cars where the toyota set up was used, your car should have the early discs, The later discs on my car are vented, Pretty sure the early cars had solid discs!

Hope this helps regards danny

Hi Simon,

you are speaking about the front or rear disc?

Anyway the changeover year for your car is the end of 1984, so you have the early type of brake disc on your car.

I don't know about EBC but from SJ the front are not cheap (original) C075J0297F

Hi Simon,

You cannot just simply bolt the later discs on as they are totally different, The easiest would be an upgrade kit from PNM they supply alloy callipers , bigger vented discs, and brackets to fit the earlier cars, However these are not cheap about
