Evora vs Esprit

Found this parked at Hethel Eng Centre, presumably for part of the EAME display next week (East of England Exhibition of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering or something like that, have a look at hethelcentre.com if interested.).

look at the coolant pipes to get an idea of how far back the rad has gone. coolant pipes also absorb some impact, classic one part two jobs chapman ethos.

plumbing installation down each side looks really neat.

..

..

..got one more pic but i think i have to wait until someone replies as it merges mine together and i'm on the stops.

last pic will show the nice cast aluminium wishbones with the lotus logo on them, but system won't let me load more pics. Wishbones look ok but I think they must be substantially bent, because part of the front subframe (if that is the right word) that is in between the front anf rear upper wishbone mounts is collapsed. Wheels and steering rack etc look in line still, although I guess the tracking may have been readjusted since the test so that it can be wheeled about. But apart from the fact that the rad is probably shot and the pipes blocked, I wouldn't be surprised if you could still drive it. No obvious damage beyond the front end structure apart from the airbags and windscreen which is blown out by the passenger airbag.

I tended to think of the Evora being smaller than the Esprit, but these pitures look like it is at least equal in length and certainly taller, how did it compare width wise Gav ?

This suggests the new Esprit could be bigger than its predecessor with a bit more space.

I think the width was comparable. It does surprise me seeing them together, the Esprit does make the Evora look a bit portly in side profile, although I think when you dig into the specifics of weight and torsional stiffness, the Esprit will be shamed.

On the other hand, I took my Esprit to the kids school as part of a lesson I volunteered to give on the subject of 'wheels' (to 6 yr olds) and the entire school was falling all over it.

I tell you what, it shows you just how good a looking car the Esprit is...IMO it looks much finer in its detailing than the Evora. The Evora looks a bit slab sided, a bit too chunky in comparison.

Buddsy

Its perhaps a bit unfair to compare the two based on this photo - after all the Evora is missing its front end after crash test and also dont forget the Esprit is somewhat lacking when it comes to carrying kids in the back.

You're kidding...there's plenty of room as discussed in another thread on here, its just lacking in ventilation and windows and can get a tad warm
