Hi Jon - Any other symptoms; any probs with other gears, can you select third with the engine off? How did it happen; just happened or was there accompanying noises etc?

Have you tried looking behind the sofa? I always find lost stuff there.

Some more questions from someone who can help more than me...

It's hard to say what the problem is with so little info, generally third is not a problem in these boxes so it is more likely to be a selector issue than a gear itself. Does the gear lever move normally, does it feel like it's engaging gear or does it bounce out, does the lever move forward into where it normally be when third is engaged? How did the failure manifest itself, were you just trundling along at the time or did it go missing as you snatched third during a full hero outbraking manovure? Do bits come out of the 'ole when you dumps the oil? Are they steel, bronze or plastic?

Fundamentally you need to get it to a dealer, preferably not by driving it in case there is debris floating about inside.

You guys might wanna read up over here... http://www.monkeytuner.com/forum/viewtopic...?f=4&t=1969

The Toyota gearbox is a very well known weak link and fail with ease, don't believe the sales pitch you get with your track ready car...sorry dudes.

I think it's fast enough…maybe
