Paul C 15
Following the where do you surf? thread, i thought it might be interesting to find out what our members do, and/or where they spend their day... Esprit ownership has led me to meeting people from all walks of life that i might have otherwise never crossed, i have been to Esprit meets where Electricians, pilots and Estate agents chat and make friends without knowing what each other do, the cars bring us together like that, which is kinda cool. B) Remember, some owners may not want to say, and i know some that cannot, so no hounding people. I just thought it might be interesting to see who we are. I'll go first! I'm an Electrician. And work mainly in historic properties, here's a photo i got taken yesterday with this thread in mind. Cables seemed uninteresting, so i thought i'd show you this old range that we uncovered this week. It's in the basement of a five story town house in Oxford city, and would have been where the housekeeper lived and cooked. There is the remains of an old dumb waiter (lift for trays) that the servants would have used to send the cooked food from the basement, up to the maid in the house above ready to serve. Amazing what gets covered over and forgotten... Who's next?
slade 1
til recently- -wake up face down in a gutter wearing someone else's clothes. At least the clothes are female. -Dust myself off. Drive to school. -Go to work. Spend the first half of work getting dirty as hell, hooking up generator exhausts 20 feet on top of a big rig in 100 degree heat. Spend second half of day locked in tiny little chamber weighing test filters, up to 500 a day. Finish early hopefully, spend rest of day evading bosses. -go home. Fill sippy cup full of Jack Daniels, cry myself to sleep. It's more or less the same now, except I'm unemployed. Though soon I'm beginning another job, a tutor for elementary/middle school aged kids. Which means that instead of coming home covered in carbon and diesel fuel, I'll be covered in vomit. good tradeoff? slade Quote "It's called a fire hydrant. JRTurbo909 1
well this should be an interesting thread.... Im actually a Systems Engineer for Boeing Satellite Development Center. It used to be Hughes Space and Communication until GM bought it in the 90s. They broke it up into what is now Boeing SDC, Raytheon Radar, and Direct TV. They actually made quite a few billion dollars on the purchase and division. Pretty good for not putting much into it. Dont have a pic of my workspace (cubicles arent interesting) or the high bay satellite manufacturing area (not allowed to take cameras in, government programs and such), but I do have one of Thuraya, a satellite built for the United Arab Emirates that they seem to be very happy about. Very exciting job... Shah Quote My Beautiful Car http://www.glcforum.com/ukesprit/forums/in...CODE=12&CID=182 ... Proud to be a G-car owner

Evil_Dr_Fish 1
What do I do? Well there's a complicated one! Left university with an honours degree in Computer Systems Engineering so obviously since then have been a professional musician! I was signed to EMI in the mid-late 90's and released an album that went top 10 in Japan! (I so sold my soul to the devil there!) Since then I did a lot of Techno / dance music and have been doing remixes and production. At the moment I'm producing my own act (for the first time in ages) and am having an absolute blast doing so. However that's all now hugely unreliable in the kerching department - you CAN indeed make shedloads but then will see nothing for ages! So at present I also work for an MP in the House Of Commons as a Parliamentary Assistant Quote "When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. s4simon 153
Presently - Right Now. I work for a Supersized American company based in London. Northrop Grumman (Navigation and Space Sensors Division) I'm a Field Engineer in charge of Europe and the Middle East. My company is like a big boys toy shop and we currently have specials going on the following products. Submersibles RC Spy plane thingys 1:1 scale Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carriers (might need an export license for that though) Oh - Can't forget the (all round) crowd pleaser - B2 Stealth Sadly, they don't let me work on these toys. Instead my current program is getting the new Inertial Navigation Unit ready for the A380 Airbus. Three of these guidance systems will be fitted to each A380. They've got the new fibre optic gyros and silicon accelerometers installed. State of the art stuff. Here's my black box in all its glory All has to come to an end though and I've had enough of frequent flyer programs and free newspapers at hotels. I'm about to quit my job and return to Oz to sell boats on the beach (help out the old man with his business). Bulk Paint 0
I design computer games. Used to work for Bullfrog back in "the day" but they got swallowed up by Electronic Arts and we all left to do our own thing. My particular own thing was to join Lost Toys where I stayed until they went belly up a couple of years back. Now I'm at Kuju Entertainment where most of my day is spent dealing with the mire of beaurocracy and derivative crap that this industry is churning out. Shame really as it used to be a real blast. Anyhow, a pocket softography would include: Powermonger, Populous II, Syndicate, Magic Carpet, Gene Wars, Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper II, Battle Engine Aquila
