Presently - Right Now.

I work for a Supersized American company based in London.

Northrop Grumman (Navigation and Space Sensors Division)

I'm a Field Engineer in charge of Europe and the Middle East.

My company is like a big boys toy shop and we currently have specials going on the following products.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Oh my good friend works for the Northrop out here in El Segundo. Cool job...

It seems like there is a lot of cool and very different jobs on this board.

Now in Telecommunications, specialising in Operation interconnection billing implementations. Basically, wholesale billing for traffic between operators.

Before that, I worked for some large UK based Aerospace & Defence company. Interesting projects included:

EFA RH Glareshield and reversionary instruments + ambient light sensor

EFA Missile Approach Warner

Aircraft Airborne Identification Systems (IFF)

Tornado Multi Purpose Colour Display mid-life update

EHI01 Helicopter Electronic Instrument System

Airbus A300 Flight Control Computer

.... telecoms is so damn boring by comparison B)

Mark - thats impressive, and yes skilled craftsmen in the UK are well underpaid. Guy who works with me is very skilled at making things (he built his own jet engine), we're both oldy worldy minded engineers and often have rants about how we sell out our skills for things like comerce and so on. Great stuff btw.

Simon - thats what I wanted to get into at BAE systems when I worked there. The 2nd pic is the globemaster iirc, we built the Phoenix UAV at out place as well as stuff for Eurofigher and JSF, F-16, Apache and so on. I believe the phoenix was the 1st instance a human surrendered to a robot in the 1st Gulf war - very interesting, but no promotional opportunities (infact I got stopped on numerous occasions cus I was the only person in my job role) so I handed my resignation in and they called my bluff...

Infact Mike I believe we worked for the same company - I know I did some midlife upgrade work on the Tornado and the F-14 converting the analouge systems to digital.

Currently making efforts to get into something to do with performance cars, pref racing or development, new and/or old.

Hi,

I own a company that makes automotive diagnostics equipment & PC based test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, temperature data loggers etc) - www.picotech.com

We supply equipment to lots of different vehicle manufacturers so once in a while I get a chance to play with some nice cars.

Currently recruiting software & hardware engineers if anyone is interested....]

Ahh - Mr. Pico

Our company's bought a bit of stuff from you guys. Excellent products too. :)

From what I've read I find it pretty amazing that when we all get together, none of us talk about our interesting jobs. :)

Maybe we should get together and do some bartering. Y'know,

I'll swap you one of my aircraft carriers for one of those fine desks. :D

Great thread!

I work in IT as well, in all manner of different departments for a UK based solutions and service company.

You can find us at www.montal.com

I believe some of our customers are or were Esprit owners as well (any here?) and Im the 3rd Esprit owner to have been employed!

Still not as exciting sounding as most of you!

One thing though - Sir Robin Evil Fish of Westminster - what does a parliamentary assistant actually do? Should I look to spot you in the tabloids? :D

ooo, something I CAN contribute to (not owning an Esprit yet!! :( )

I am partner in a company selling machinery in to the recycling industry - shredders, waste-to-energy projects, tyre recycling - usually enough for people just to say 'oh' when you tell them and quickly change the subject! :)

Shameless plug for business - Systems4Recycling

New company but making progress now - hopefully will be paying for my first Esprit in the not too distant future!

Cheers

Oh..........................you see Wigan beat Arsenal?

:P

Tony K The one and only Kimbers,,,not some jumped up clone like Tony K...now I'm confusing myself

I design computer games.

Used to work for Bullfrog back in "the day" but they got swallowed up by Electronic Arts and we all left to do our own thing. My particular own thing was to join Lost Toys where I stayed until they went belly up a couple of years back. Now I'm at Kuju Entertainment where most of my day is spent dealing with the mire of beaurocracy and derivative crap that this industry is churning out.

Shame really as it used to be a real blast.

Anyhow, a pocket softography would include:

Powermonger, Populous II, Syndicate, Magic Carpet, Gene Wars, Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper II, Battle Engine Aquila

Marry me! I used to love Bullfrog games back in the day. Populous was groundbreaking and Gene wars was brilliant. Currently spend my nights playing Rome Total war...when I'm not playing Medieval Total War, Barbarian invasion or mindlessly blowing my 8 year old son away in Timesplitters future perfect..... :)

Ermmm...anyone see the match last night...ok am a secret geek (but good looking and sexy with it) :D
