No. The increase in Lotus figures is registration of New customer cars and demo's. And the reason I didn't quote the annual figures is because thats the very reason Lotus brought it out, to increase sales. The only thing the old figures show you is how badly they needed a new model.

Incidently, many companies use demo's to distort figures. Hence why the manufacturers I have worked for demand dealers revolve demos every 3 months (they can't do it less because of Customs and Excise regulations).

New customer cars and demo's.

err... right you are. 50% demos/stock, 50% customer cars.

And the reason I didn't quote the annual figures is because thats the very reason Lotus brought it out, to increase sales. The only thing the old figures show you is how badly they needed a new model.

right - the annual figures say way more than the monthly comparison. The monthly figures says "a new model in 2009 sells better than no new model in 2008".

However, still way down compared to 2008 figures :ball: And tells something about Elise/Exige sales as well...

Figures now are not I repeat NOT as distorted as they were.

At one stage the likes of MG and Landrover/Ford/Jaguar group were giving their staff up to three cars dependent upn on grade as perks which really distorted the th figures. This is not so much the case now in the UK.

The only fair annual comparisons to do is a model like for like analysis as this is comparible data.

niche companies and even big manufcturers releasing niche models will potentially increase sales percentages instantaneously but its the bread and butter models which will tell the tale.

The thing with a company like Lotus is that all their products are their bread and butter products.

the only fair comparrissonish in the list Kimbers quoted was with Bentley but they have not just released a new model so you need to look for a pestige company which has. Again difficult because there are pre orders of forthcoming models to put into play (ferrari 458 Italia anyone). The proof is in the surving and the profit margins I'm afraid as far as the accountants are concerned oh and the share values!!!
