Uprated carbon/alloy air box/induction for 2.2

Recommended Posts

Anyone aware of any custom airboxes (either coated alloy or carbon) to replace the standard box. I'm also going to replace the intake tubing with aluminised material.. although the GT1 racing chargecooler (size of a small white appliance) and uprated/large racing IC makes the need far less than on my n/a cars.. the modified manifold and large bore exhaust system and T3/60 tubby all bring heat soak into play..

the standard airbox also looks pretty big and cumbersome - anyone tried anything else to good effect. :o Will duly wrap everything in sight asap.. protect cables and beef up heat guards etc.

Jon,

It looks like you have bought John Hazzard's 4-cylinder race car. Has he made it road legal ?

You might like to look what I have done on the air intake side.

Thanks Dermot,

Yes - in order to race in the 750MC series but remains SORN which suits me fine... I have looked at the Viper kit and thought about customising with longer induction piping - my concern was the maximum flow rate of the filter itself..

Here is the current arrangement - rough n read but really works.. B) (note different exhaust location, Sport300 tubby and motorsport enlarged charge cooler). Proximity of exhaust to air intake is not the best for heat soak and lengthens the induction flow but seems to work.. may main thing will be to improve where possible without changing layout and try to control the heat around the engine bay.

Very nice car - love to have a look at it sometime or are you planning to attend some meets - anywhere near the south east ?
