Pistonheads
Lotus Esprit S1 August 1978Matching Numbers78050381GCC7780514941Silver Diamond A03Black Leather.A letter from Lotus Cars Ltd states that this example is the last UK S1 built for the UK market, and unlike other BNG registered cars of the same period, 0381G retains more of the S1 features than other cars of the time that were built with Speedline wheels and S2 aero/cooling addenda. It does feature a panel lamp rheostat on the S1 dash control panel, electric mirror switches, and S2 rear engine cover, and the twin silenced exhaust. It still has S1 signatures of Veglia Green gauges, Wolfrace wheels, S1 Blade spoiler and an S1 rear valence. The car is a restoration project requiring re-commissioning of brakes and clutch, and will require a replacement fuel pump. The engine turns freely on its starter, but there is no fuel delivery. The car could be re-commissioned and MOT'd before use. The car would also make a good candidate for a total restoration, missing no parts at all, and being complete. The chassis is solid with the body having been removed for a chassis repaint in 1988, supported by a photographic record. Many suspension components were replaced at the same time. The car was repainted in its original silver in 1990 but now suffers some local micro-blistering to both doors. It was retrimmed to a very good standard using Black Connolly leather in 1991. A stainless steel exhaust was fitted, and the car went into storage: it's been there ever since! An opportunity to acquire an interesting Esprit S1, complete, but requiring some work.£7990To discuss this car further, or to arrange a viewing, please contact Scott [email protected] 07769794067 View the full article
