Just wondering.

I'm 6'' 6'' tall and 19.5 stone. Jumping in and out of the cockpit is not done with the grace of a ballet dancer, but fine to drive when actually in.

Out of interest any other tall esprit drivers who have eaten all the pies?

I am about 6'-3" and still find the cockpit cozy. I am a little surprised to hear that even taller people are doing fine - in older model Esprits too! There is a guy locally who has an '84 and I sat in it and my legs were a little cramped but the headroom seemed fine. When I get my Esprit I am having the steering wheel changed to a smaller diameter, but that would be it.

Hi Ian, Iam 6'-3" and 16 stone.

BTW, we met at Donnington and Stoneleigh. You have the blue N/A.

I used to own a 90 turbo in Norfolk Mustard and then an S4s in red. At the time I gave you tips on how to gain more legroom.

You need to buy a highwing or later as the tunnel is wider!

Hi Dave. Remember you well. Looks like you are climbing the Esprit ladder quite nicely. Remember your 90 Turbo (good buckets and a carbon roof) The S4S is the one I've always wanted, but never having experienced the driving sensation of the V8, I guess thats pretty awesome too. Can't make Donnington (the wife's 40th) Castle Coombe looks promising with any luck. Hope to catch up with you sometime. regards Ian

I have mentioned this in my pinned post "Lotus Anecdotes" however, dad is 6ft7in tall and the original Esprit should have been2 inches bigger on the wheelbase. After getting Colin Chapman to agree the extra wheelbase (which dad needed and he also considered it better for the US market) dad cleared off to the states on a business trip. When he retrned Colin had reverted the design and put it into preproduction. So, u should have been able to fit in no problems. Blame Colin  (by the way he was 5'8"....Dad and him looked like little and large together... )

I'm a midget at 5'7" 135lbs  Which I think is why the car fits me like a glove, being similar sized to Chapman. I have no idea what to do with all the headroom  People shorter than me claim not to be able to see over the dash, people taller than me... well, I have a few friends who are 6'5" or so, and in order to carry them the sunroof must be removed  I can vouch for Wayne being... just the right size

I'm 6'2" and 11.4 stone (160lb for non British people)

My legs are really long though, same as someone who is 6'5" tall.

I can barely fit in my 89SE, but I can't fit comfortably in any 88-89 non-SE, or 90+ anything.

In the 88-89 the seats are too thick, and I can't see the gauges. Also my legs get stuck between the wheel and the chassis.

The 90+ cars all have the GM airbag wheel here and I can't fit under it, legs get smashed again.

Good thing I only was interested in the 89SE, or I might never have bought one.

Does that mean your shoulder is all fixed now?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Kind of, went for follow up yesterday, got severe bollocking for not wearing sling :) , doctor did a stability test, son of a bitch literally tried to dislocate my shoulder :D , do,es that hurt he asks, *@^&%$**@*&% says I, apparently its 80% unstable, bit like me then eh says I :) LOL, anyway I,ve got to do all these stupid excersises, I dont quite get it cos it feels fine, doesn,t hurt any more at all. Doc asks have you been taking it easy, "of course says I, I wasn,t skiing last friday honest, or teararsing about in a gt40 at weekend", :) . Apparently if it dislocates again it wont hurt quite so much as it did first time, "oh joy thats something to look forward to then eh" :D .

Shoulder joint is a strange joint because it allows you to move your arm in many different ways, ie tennis serve. I hada skiing buddy who kept dislocating his shoulder, spent many hours sat in casualty waiting for him. Eventually he had a "puti-platt" operation to shorten some tendons and prevent it from reoccuring. he was like you doing too much too soon... beware

ps see you Sunday?
