Haven't Done This Since 27th Sep 2007.........

Recommended Posts

Driven my own LOTUS!!!!!

I am now the proud owner of Robert Crook's Eclat Riviera.

When I first saw it for sale it ticked a lot of boxes for me. Great colour, last run Eclat, so developed, Riviera edition so a little rarer. Also I also had a slight fear of trying to maintain an Esprit in rural France where we are not exactly over run with specialists. For right or wrong I felt an Eclat might be easier to live with in that environment.

First and foremost a big thank you to Robert. He's been an absolute pleasure to deal with and gone above and beyond to get the car ready for me. He also took time out of his day to pick me up from Liverpool Airport, and I even got to see his collection, including his outstanding JPS car.

My car is about to commence a gentle drive down to France via rendezvous with several TLF members on route including

Paul C

Bibs

Cliff

And calling in on John (Molemot) on route in France.

I'm a very happy man. It's been a long time but I'm finally back in Lotus ownership. Can you tell I'm happy?

Glad you've got a Lotus again mate, and I think it was a wise choice not getting the Excel I've got a few jobs lined up to do on it, doing them in France without dealers/ specialists to hand may have been a bit of a pain.

I do like the Riveiras, I think it's a great shame the Excel never had a removable roof panel, not that I'm contemplating putting one in mine.

Have a great journey.

Thanks for the kind comments. I'll update you on progress down to France!

Car is running well touch wood. The number of similiarities to my old S2 are quite surprising. It's got the standard old Lotus engine oil aroma around it! I've already noticed the extra torque from the 2.2 which is lovely and although it wasn't a real factor in deciding on the car, I've already come to appreciate the power steering!

It's a very relaxed drive, but you can still push on when you want. I'm still smiling!!

Mat,

What's you're timetable and route back? Would be great to catch up before you hop over the Channel again, if you've not gone already!

Well done Mat, great car in the best colour. The power steering is handy too on those things!. I was going to right click and save the photos, but might save that for when you get some snaps done in France, much prettier!

Mark you can have as many as you want! You're right, those were just some quick snaps to get the thread going, its an indication of how good the car is that it photos that well when I'm not even trying!! I'll make sure of loads of France photos.

Mike you can place money that I'll be over soon. Just moved house so give me a week or so and I'll PM you.

Pete, you have PM.....
