Elite/Eclat/Excel picture thread!

Recommended Posts

Engine is fine. Still with Norfolk accent.

Small seeping from steering pump so that will need to be replaced.

Front suspension bushes.

Electric windows, mirrors and central locking non functional. Need to get this done first then:

Add alarm and immobiliser

New door beams and window frames.

Replace snapped choke cable

Replace non working bonnet strut

Get rev counter working

Replace and re-wire speakers

Then I think new carpets

Headlining is not great so that needs to change.

Interior tidy

Not much and in reality it's a lot of relatively small items.

Mirrors may be a pain as there is a part missing between the switches and electrics. Just exposed plastic pins.

From our race last weekend (it should be noted that we won our class after 8 years of trying  ) : Lotus Elite by Brian Knudson, on Flickr Lotus Elite by Brian Knudson, on Flickr

Just a small 'to do' list then lol (I wish mine were that long!!!)

Regards the mirrors, assuming the mirrors themselves still function (?), refiguring the loom and necessary bits should be relatively straightforward.

Try carbuildersolutions.co.uk - they may have the required electronics to make it more 'plug and play'

Good luck

Is the price for that bit in Yen or £?

Is this the one-owner car that was auctioned off a couple of months ago?  If so, is as nice in the flesh, so to speak, as it looked in the photos?

S4 Elan, Elan +2S, Federal-spec, World Championship Edition S2 Esprit #42, S1 Elise, Excel SE

No,

That one has been in the hands of its current owner since 1977. He was the driver and he had a quick chat with some of us. I got the impression he wasn't an internet type.

Nice chap tho.

The car was in very original condition - the early type of interior had typically lasted well. However the paint showed microblistering across its flanks and pods. A good 10 yarder.

I was at the show and it was so nice to see this car in great condition and this colour. It's a 70's sportscars and with the exciting introduction of colour television during that decade, most cars were painted in bold colours like brown, orange, green and yellow. It's a shame when people change the colours to bring them up to date or go for a TV theme like the multiple white Bond-ifications of esprits you see at shows. Keep em original.

Real sorry we missed it this year, hopefully next year though. Here's a pic of the latest barn/shed/yard find. Sadly looks like someone has lifted it by the roof though.

So nice to see these three spectacular Lotus sportscars from the 70's, 80's wedge era together. All are connected In their styling and phylosophy.

Lovely early dark bumper/skirt, narrow body éclat excel is becoming a rare but endangered species I hear!
