Hello all

First post and all, so be friendly...

I currently have Lotus Elise S2 111S (04MY). Thinking of changing in the near future, either to an S2 Exige, or possible an Esprit. Only one probelm with the Esprit, I don't know if it'll fit down my drive.

Can someone point me in the direction of some dimensions for the later V8s. Or better still, anyone in the Peterborough area who would like to reverse down my drive?

Many thanks

Simon

Greetings Simon,

Dimensions of the later V8 should be on Kato's site.

Lotus Esprit World

If you check out my pics in the Forum's garage section, you'll see they fit in pretty tight spots. I have about an inch and a half either side getting into my garage at home, and I have to drive in on the angle.

Just move the walls. :D

Absolutely !

Had a test drive in a Exige, totally loved it but....

a: not as fast as my Esprit

b: not as comfortable as my Esprit, can't imagine doing a long drive in an Exige

c: I know the Esprit can be hard to get in and out of, but the Exige :D

d: Exige would have my Esprit on really twisty roads but it wouldn't take me long to catch up. :P

Hi Simon. It all depends on what floats your boat...

Are you wanting to blast B road twisties into oblivion or something a little more 'rounded' and powerful?

If you just like burning up the bendy roads then (and I know I'm about to be crucified for this) get an Exige.... I often wonder about my Epsrit - I love it so much but when it comes to the type of driving I enjoy, I would quite proabably get more out of a smaller, more flickable Elise or Exige.

I have and will keep the Esprit for completely irrational reasons! I don't think one of the Go Karts could ever make me feel the same way!

Thanks all.

Looks like I'm going to have to take a test drive to decide. I do a few trackdays each year at present, I know the Exige is better suited for that, but I still like the idea of V8TT power and abit more comfort.

Esprits' seem to be abit thin on the ground looking at the franchised dealers, is there somewhere else I should look to?

Yep you want to avoid those!!!

They don't always provide the sort of service youd expect NOR the quality of car you'd want!

First things first, make sure you get yourself to Donington this sunday to get a frame of reference, meet some of us and ask loads of questions.

You will see what GOOD cars should look like, so will know a mutt when you come across one!

Autotrader and of course LEW are the main place we tend to look.... Exchange and Mart and Pistonheads "for sale" pages.....

....be wary of cars on ebay, theyre often NOT being sold conventionally for a reason..... but you CAN get lucky and score a real bargain.....

Read the LEW buying guide and obey it to the letter, it's the best advice you'll ever get.

Pay an independent specialist to check out anything *before* you buy it as small probems can cost thousands!

Ask us LOTS of questions - the car may well be 'known' (either as good or bad!) Don't buy anything in haste!

People have 'mixed feelings' about the UK Sports Cars chain.... I will simply say that I personally will never EVER buy anything form them (although having said that they currently still have Ed's old S4s which is a known good car as long as they didnt eff it up!!) but I don't trust them!

I know about the dealers. having had my current car from new I've had my fare share of 'customer service' Always abit nervious about buying privatly though, and would like to get a part ex price first (that should scare me into going private)

I'm off to Nick Wales at the weekend, one of the better dealers by all account.

I've come across UK Sport cars before (actually used to live not far away from them) they never impressed me very much, and I hadn't even considered seeing what they have in.

Excuse my ignorance but 'LEW'?

I may be at Donny at the weekend (Sunday), I've been the past 5 years, and to be honest I was getting tired of seeing the same old junk being touted from the same stalls.

Thanks again for your comments.
