Transmission and clutch help?

I got the transmission out last night the pressure plate

split between the cover and friction plate the springs that

attach it to the cover were hanging out and were scraping

the bell housing

the clutch plate looked like it had good

life left on it and the flywheel also looked good but the

primary shaft had lots of play it almost felt like its split

in the middle but the car drove good except I was having hard

time selecting gears and a rattling noise when I pressed the

clutch

so I am planing to split the box open tonight

is there anything I need to know about the process other than

what's in the manual anything you recommend that I should

replace or any tricks to make the box stronger

I heard some nissan sentra guys they shot pin, debure and

cryo treat the internals to handle more power will that help

or maybe nitride tread parts

or does any one sells or can machine a stronger primary

shaft , Derek Bells kit looks great but over my budget

the clutch is couple years old few thousand miles on it

I upgraded to S4S flywheel and clutch kit from JAE

replaced the master, slave and stainless hose adjusted to spec

but the shifting didn't feel the same and it had noises's when I

pressed the clutch and kept getting worst and worst so I was

wondering maybe the plate was faulty from the day I put it on

and also on the clutch disk can I put a better friction material

or the oem plate should be good enough

thanx in advance

I cant be 100% certain on the S4, but the primary shaft on the v8 is exactly as you describe. The shaft is actually 2 pieces with only a roll pin holding the 2 bits together, there is a good amount of lateral movement in it and feels almost like something's bust - see the lower of the 2 shafts here;
