S1 Fuel Tanks...Proper Refurbishment?

Recommended Posts

So my S1 is pretty stripped down and I have the fuel tanks out right now. I never want to remove them again. They have a little bit of rust in them, and maybe a little varnish/deposits as well. So far it is looking like my best option is to take them to a local radiator shop that will hot tank them, acid soak/dip them, hot tank them again, then coat them. Does this sound like the right thing to do? I want to do everything in my power to ensure these suckers don't have to come out again.

In that case, get your wallet out and fit a pair of alloy ones. It will hurt your bank balance, but the skin on your knuckles will thank you.

I know SJ Sportscars are in the wrong country for you, but this S1 tank price list will give you an idea of what to expect. Clicky.
