Waterproof Car Cover

Nifty

Question

Can anyone lead me in the right direction to get a waterproof car cover for my car.

Just looking at Halfrauds Tyvek range they are not wide enough unless you get the XXL version, which would have too much spare volume and would then catch the breeze like a balloon.

Is there anyone who makes a custom fit cover at a reasonable price?

Cheers,

Nifty.

Don't do the Halfwits thing get yourself hooked up with one of these:

They are waterproof/breathable, value for money and you should have it in a couple of days. Even if water's pooling on the top it won't get wet - nice and fleecy lined inside - you'll probably need a large sportscar size i think off the top of my head mine was a little over

This conversation happened in September and someone mentioned a company called Turtle Covers who are based in Anglesy as a source of custom made Goretax covers...

The URL for the site used to be http://www.turtlecovers.co.uk but it doesn't seem to be working now, so I'm not sure if they are still around...

Ben,

FYI they are only doing bike stuff now i think they don't do the cars anymore apart from seatcovers i rang them in Jan - that URL wasn't linking then either.

But yeah they looked like they were pretty good from what i could tell - about the same money as well - the Hamilton Classic is called Moltex and appears to be a 5 layer construction not too dissimilar from mr Gore and mr Tex - i think the key thing apart from waterproof-ness is breathability and a soft lining so you don't get scratches on the body work.

Although the 'large sportscar cover' is not exactly made to measure my exhaust and last 2 inches are exposed you might say but i think you'd have to pay a lot more for any better coverage - there are two snap buckle straps that go under to secure the cover but it held up better than my garden fence when the wind was hammering through the other saturday!

Good hunting,

We have a page on car covers at http://esprit.driestone.com/index.php/Esprit/CarCovers I have a fitted car cover, specially made for the "G" Esprit that fits very well (no extra material, includes pockets for the mirrors, etc.) They make them in a variety of material. I picked up an all weather cover for $172US two years ago, and have to say I have been very happy with my purchase.

Taylored for the gentleman who knows how to dress. A perfect fit, breathable, 4 securing traps and you get a big Lotus logo stitched on the front! :)

Had mine for about 6 years. Only thing is to remember not to put the cover over the exhaust when it's hot!!
