S2 Front Spoiler

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps,

Does anyone have a picture of their front spoiler. Need to get an idea of the curvatureas mines a bit bent (ooeerrrr). Decapitated a pheasant at 70mph a couple of years ago which split the fiberglassand did a quick fix but looking at it it's quite lop-sided. Unfortunately I don't have another for comparison.

Cheers,

Pete

Nice car Shah

That is the first time I have seen those federal bumpers. They are unusual.

Certainly looks nice and clean. I have been pretty much jelous of any one who can drive their car for the last 15 months

Thanks, but Troy I dont think you would find anyone on this board that wouldnt be willing to wait 15 months for the chance to drive an Esprit like yours. You are certainly setting the bar high...

But the bumpers are unusual. I woulnt mind fitting some Euro ones on my car in the months to come. The conversion is a bit pricey though...

Why is it so pricey?

I think what we need to start doing as an international group of owners is start looking after each other. In other words if someone in the US finds an item in the UK that they want then one of us over here could arrange to have it shipped, and vice versa. I am sure you are the same as us that you get hit by cutoms for inport tax. If I was to send it as an idividual then you surely wouldn't have to pay that tax.

I'll keep an eye out over here for a bumper for you. B)

I've been almost tempted to put a euro S1 bumper on my turbo  They look so great, though I'm not sure if it would mesh well with the air dam :P

Troy, that is a cool idea B) Though to tell you the truth, I like my black rubber bumper better than the painted fiberglass ones on euro cars. The contrast looks nice.

...Actually (this isn't just flattery) but one of the only cars that I've liked the painted bumper on is Troy's car, probably because it's such a cool color :( To tell you the truth Troy's is one of the only S3s I like period. Very well done, wish it was in my garage (At this point my car is only a little more driveable... gotta do something about that "engine falling out" problem" :(

Furthering the flattery, and further on the topic, Shah's car schooled me in learning that the integrated front spoiler could actually look good, as opposed to the blade.

Good thing teigan's not around for this bumper shenanigans :(

I see little to worry about painting the front valanve body colour. It is a simple job to put back to black.

I have kept quite a lot original on my car and have also changed quite a few things. When ever I make a change I look at it this way .............. how hard is it to change back.

I have not molested the body work putting on body kits or spoilers. I have all the original parts that I removed. My upgrades have been done to make the car more usable. These are beautiful cars and they should be driven. I read through hundreds of posts seeing what people moaned about the S3. The plastic clutch hose, bad brakes, poor cooling, so I changed them. Braided clutch hose, uprated vented discs, four pot calipers. I chose polybushes over rubber ones because they last alot longer, my rubber screen trim was out of necesity because they were no longer available (although I have just been informed that they have now been remade. BUGGER :( ) Other things were done to please myslf. Colour coding bumpers and trim, Alcantara and leather, Burr Elm dash, stainless manifold and exhaust, the wheel refurb, all things I had seen on other cars and thought would make mine look a little nicer, more individual. The next owner might have different ideas, but he/she will have less work

It's yours do as you want and enjoy. Not everyone will agree with my choices but they were my choices.

Im sure that no one would complain about the upgrades you have made to your car. You did a beautiful job. Im still toying with the idea of painting the spoiler body color. I guess we will see when I repair the crack. I have a pint of the Lambo paint left so ot may be just that much easier to color code it. B)

So whats the ET on the completion date of your car? Whats the status?

...it seems that we have hijacked this thread a bit but Peter seemed content with the pictures posted so it should be okay

Shah, it would look great with the lower body painted body color... it would also look great yellow

Yes, paint the whole body, it realy makes the car look good! Mine was red when I got her with the black chip resistant stuff on spolier and sills. It was not the original colour and I thought it just made the car look like a cheap f$""%i. Got her resprayed in Essex Blue all over and WOW what a difference. Painting sills and spoiler makes the car look so much lower and the lines cleaner. Keep the bumpers black though as I think they add good definition, don't like the S1 & 2 cars with the bumpers painted too - but I guess it's a personal thing!

You can see the before and after pics:

I agree with you Pete with the sills painted body colour the car does look a lot lower and sleeker. It all looks more together, more flowing.

Agreed. The black paint at the bottom is the only thing I never cared for about the S2. . .

To get bac off-topic again, I am looking for a pair of front indicator assemblies that go into the UK/Euro front bumper, and I am also looking for a rear UK/Euro REAR bumper for my white car. If anybody has a line on some, please email me at [email protected]

Thanks,

Tony

Troy's right. Mini clubman. Though lotusbits.com will be much cheaper - that's where I got my replacements due to stones cracking the lenses. Think they were used on the Elites/Eclats as well.
