p1renn 0
I just refurbished my steering rack but it's leaking oil from the lower inspection covers. I had cleaned everything including the inspection cover and the half dozen metal adjustment shims (paper thin). I also cut new gaskets from a manilla folder to replace the old ones. But now oil is dripping from the inspection covers. Everything is absolutely clean and the bolts are really tight. I wonder if using paper gaskets wasn't the best idea? Has anyone used a sealant on the gaskets and the metal shims? I suspect the racks are prone to leaks so I'm hoping someone has managed to fix the problem!
andydclements 755
I'd suggest getting some zero thickness gasket chemical in there.
