The next Evora?

Recommended Posts

Any ideas what's in the pipeline for the next few months in terms of Evora models? I'm guessing there's a supercharged version on it's way and the 'carbon concept' looks very similar in terms of carbon usage to the new Telsa so I'd take a guess that's more than just a concept.

Any predictions, rumours, or release dates?

I think it's too early for the SC - I would expect no sooner than the start of next year.

The electric one I think is even further away.

Wouldn't surprise me if the convertible is causing problems with the seals and electrics.

So in short, other than maybe a few option packs and the obligitory paint schemes I don't think anything else will happen this year.

little birdie told me Paris motorshow will reveal the new lotus lineup inc. esprit replacement. Evora SC? not for while yet, plenty of global demand for the current car.

Quick Google later... Paris, that's not until October! I guess if they can sell Evoras with the current options they might as well keep the SC on the back burner for a little longer.

I think an autobox is probably near the top of priorites to bring to market sooner rather than later.

Good point - should be "relatively" straightforward as there are good auto boxes already for the engine.

Just a case of the interior tweeks for the controls and any electronic interfaces.

Does make a lot of sense to me to offer the slushbox. See how that goes and if ok offer a DSG paddle shift :construction:

I'm not going to the Paris show for my health, expect a lot from Lotus this year... :construction:

5-6 new models at Paris apparantly.

5-6 new models?

Let go the most optimistic and say they roll out a preview of the S3 elise and the next Esprit (and I think thats a big big leap of faith).

Without trying to sound negative what else could there be?

Sure I think the convertible Evora could be a car and Evora SC at a longshot but other than that I can only see other concept cars.

I loved the Electric evora concept but I want to see cars I can actually drive and buy.

Maybe a new 211 :construction:

Hey! I'm only repeating what I'm told! And drinking in the same pubs as the employees and living a mile from the factory does help to know whats going on!

The S3 Elise is already at the dealerships.

I'm betting on the Evora S (tweaked standard engine +/- 315bhp) and the Evora with autobox.

I do think that the next gen Esprit will only see the spotlight at next year Geneva for some reason?!

I'm not thinking about the Third gen Elise before 2012. When you look at the car available now, there's no point!

Sorry - didn't mean to step on toes :construction:

I'd be ecstatic if it were to happen though (5-6 new models not the toe stepping)

The S3 Elise is already at the dealerships.

I didn't think it was officially called the S3... thought it was MY2011 S2.

I'd say S2.5 at a push - from everything I've seen it's a facelift which the Elise definately needed but nothing more substantial.

Hey, it may be a case of "if it aint broke"...

I agree the new Elise isn't exactly a huge change, although like the Carbon Evora it's styling is reminiscent of the new Tesla which looks very nice indeed. It's a great formula, a proven winner so why spend money Lotus probably don't have on a revamp?

I'd like to see the Evora S announced, the autobox is a given for the US market, I don't think folks will be queuing round the block over here though! What else is there? The soft top Evora's probably a way off, although it would be a stunning looker, especially if Lotus could find the room for one of those fancy power hard tops...

Finally... my money's on a bunch more Heritage paint jobbies for the whole range too!

I think the lifecycle is Evora, Evora roadster (convertable), Evora S, then some sort of hybrid...

If they bring out a hot version, i'm in, as long as it's not silly priced.

I'm still toying with the idea of getting an Evora now-ish and then upgrading to the probable "S" spec supercharger later.

the advantage withi this is that they'd be no tax banding increase for the modification

Hmm - wonder if Lotus will look again at the Targa option. I always thought that was a great roof option and looked great on the S2 launch just a shame they never got it to fruition.

The evora boot looks big enough and if it was a similar design that was hinged on the T bar then that would be great.

Mb1, what would u consider silly priced? Many people right now think it's priced too high...

I would expect Lotus to continue to look to Porsche for pricing examples and I would say the supercharger would be at least a +8k option.

Squid, i'd say a maximum of an 8k hike in price for a 400 bhp car.

If they get into second hand GT3 territtory, there is only one winner there for me. It's already the price of a GTR, so I agree the current prices are too high imo. I also think the Exige S price has gone silly too. I was happy paying 30k for a near new one, but £40k plus is just not justifiable.

350 will do then

But as with anything forced induction, more power is easy :hrhr:

I susppose there is a chance it will be normally aspirated, whihc would be much preferred.

Why won't it top 400 BHP???

Drivetrain probably wouldn't handle 400+hp without significantly lowering the reliability of the drivetrain, currently designed comfortably within the limits of the car.. But you certainly could take it pass the 400 mark with more intrusive mods. (new rods and cylinders, valve tuning, etc).
