So I don't watch YouTube much, and if I do it's very very rarely Auto Related, but this guy has an Evora hes doing stuff to, (I have no idea why his comments are off).  He must be doing some serious driving to mount a huge wing, or maybe he knows something I don't, I know they're quite popular as much as I hate them.

 

Regardless pretty car, and kind of cool to have Lotus stuff show up on my feed

No worries for the gents who do not care for the accents, everyone has their own taste and they are entitled to it.   I love the red accents my GT has now and it makes me SMILE every time I walk into my garage.  I love it more than any Evora I have seen (except maybe a JPS version with gold rims, those are the business.).  Cheers!

Thank you for the memory Bibs. The launch of "The Eagle"- first all new car for 13 years at the time. So many great Evora iterations and developments from a standing start in 2008. A fantastic experienced team who built in ACBC's Lotus DNA.

Looking forward to a great Lotus future now, kick-started with the Evija.

MJK and his team nailed Evora - the arrow hit the bullseye. 

It is a travesty that Evora did not fly (sales-wise) like an Eagle.

I  know that the whole Lotus Eagle team agreed with you C8RKH our great friend RGB was spitting bullets. Unfortunately, a new CEO after I retired actually talked down the car, even publicly on TV!  That is not the first time that such has happened in the auto industry sadly. However, the Evora has shown its true pedigree since by its remarkable advance through new and higher performance variants with great success-apart from the lack of effective marketing until the Geely acquisition.

Yes, the disease that is "not invented here" is a strong in some CEO's as it is elsewhere. My experience is it is usually CEO's who were CFO's and typed their title letters wrong in the computer. Strong Evora sales from 2010 to date would have set Lotus on a much faster recovery path and would have earned hundreds, if not thousands of new "drivers" to the brand but as usual ego gets in the way of business success.  So glad you persevered Mike and your success with the team will be well remember in Lotus history.

+2 configuration is so clever. Enables using the Evora far more often yet the profile and shape is untroubled by what is a very tough design challenge. 

I bet Russell Carr and the team were anxious when MJK (I assume) insisted on +2 layout. 

I think they created the prettiest +2 mid-engined car in the history of automobiles.

It gets on my nerves when the rear seating gets criticised - my 18 months year old slots in back there perfectly. You can fit a large suitcase too. Genuinely a practical car compared to a lot of the competition.

Agreed on marketing too - I didn’t know it existed until I saw a couple parked up at a car show 5 or 6 years ago and decided I had to have one.

Lotus created something beyond brilliant, and I think that may simply just be in the DNA itself, the conversation here itself is enlightening, and saddening simultaneously.  I do hope they indeed show the world, what I believe is truth.

Yes jep. Many wanted a pure two seater but I was planning that as the new Esprit to follow the Evora. (Together with RGB I had already negotiated the V10 engine for N/S mid engined installation). Many tried to change my mind but we had the entry level Elise and a much more powerful Exige on the way and needed a more user friendly but high performance up-market sports car " stepping stone" to the Esprit to come. Russel and his team did a fabulous job.

Perhaps not for this thread but I would be intrigued to hear your thoughts on the McLaren road car program and how that may have impacted V10 Esprit.

I don’t think said CEO came from a financial background. If he had, Lotus would probably be in much better shape pre Geely.
