mik 341 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 Yes - that is the Kylesku bridge, as used for the ECOTY shot this year i have a photo of me as a youngling just after it opened sitting in the lower curve of one of the legs. I couldn't climb it so had to be lifted up.

Yes indeedy - I did the full NC500 at the start of August - I'll do a proper write up soon, but I think that's about the only pic I have with the car in it! That bridge is also about the only place i saw any other interesting cars on the entire trip!

Unfortunately it tipped it down somewhat for almost all of the outward leg so by the time the first opportunity to wield a camera presented itself my P&J was considerably less gleaming than when it left home, having by then already endured 150+ miles of mud and road-grime, . Bravo73 1,054 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 @trcm Am I correct in thinking that you bought the last SR made? If so, would you mind taking a photo of your engine bay and posting it on here? I'm intrigued to see what the 'deleted engine cover' looks like.

Bibs 8,935 4 Vehicles Report post Posted September 8, 2016 Almost hilariously, JMG decided he didn't like the engine cover and stopped it being fitted while there was still a good supply of them for production. PaulCP 412 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 Hmmm, I've heard both versions before. Perhaps that's why Silverstone offered to fit one for me FOC when I questioned why it wasn't there when I bought mine At least the "no stock, new model coming out" is more plausible, even if it isn't the case, than the whim of an egocentric

Not exactly, it was the last 'unregistered' Evora S SR I believe, but I doubt it was the last one off the production line, maybe I should get a certificate of provenance or whatever Lotus call them? Oh, and I have an engine cover Edited September 9, 2016 by trcm
Colin G 762 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 Going for all the V's in the brother and I's toy storage now, he just added this 1970 MKI Capri with a little heart transplant to the list, a tiny little 302ci 5.0l Mustang V8 tucked up in its skinny wee body. blindside 341 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 Colin, I would love to see a pic of the Capri's engine bay to see how he has managed to 'shoehorn' the V8.
JayEmm 1,270 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 There were a line of "official" conversions from South African dealers for these, the "Perana" Capri Bit of info for you: http://www.perana.org/capriv8.asp Quote James Martin (JayEmm) Director of Photography & Car Enthusiast Follow my Lotus adventure online! www.jayemm.com
Colin G 762 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 I'll take one when I go to the garage tomorrow Jimmy, I've just put the 400 away for the day. This one is a SA import as well.
blindside 341 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 @JayEmm cheers James; very interesting and quirky! I was aware that S. Africa was a good source for comparatively rust free Mk1 & 2 Escorts but was not aware that they were modding Capri's there back in the day as well. @Colin G Thanks Colin, I have an engine bay obsession and am always on the lookout for interesting car and engine/drivetrain combinations! Colin G 762 Report post Posted September 10, 2016 It's not the best looking engine bay Jimmy, but it's going to be quite a beast once it has a few bits tidied. Taking us a bit off topic from Evora's, but I did make a quick vid when we went down to the MOT centre with the car, gives you an idea of the noise at least, I've had to trim it to a few seconds so as not to exceed the forum limit. I mentioned this on Coco's facebook, but to echo the sentiment here. This picture superbly shows just how far back in the car the engine really is. It might technically be "mid" engined, but this goes a long way to explaining the 911-like weight distribution Quote James Martin (JayEmm) Director of Photography & Car Enthusiast Follow my Lotus adventure online! www.jayemm.com
