steamdriven 2
Does anyone know how to prise the clear plastic cover from the interior ovrehead cabin courtesy light? I want to change the bulb and I can gently prise one end free, but the other will not budge. I don't want to be too heavy handed and crack the unit. Is there a 'knack' to this ? sailorbob 271
You remove the whole unit to replace the lamps, it's a simple plastic lugged affair that snaps into place.
Jonathan 13
You can knock that panel out on its own but probably not a good idea if you're scared of breaking it - probably cost £578 to replace. Look up to the centre console, you'll see that closest to the roof space are 2 small cut outs slightly behind the eyeball map lights. Get 2 screw drivers and poke them in that hole, that releases the catch - be aware that these can be a BASTARD to remove becuase the appature the light cluster goes back into is very tight fit. Once out replace it with an LED light or something - will last for ever then. Also you can cut the clear lense about to enable that to come off on it's own without the riggor of taking the whole console down. My map light popped back into the roof ages ago, it's that hard on mine to remove I left it as it is ! Quote facebook = [email protected]
steamdriven 2
Yeah - it was my plan to replace with bright white LED, but what seemed at first like an easy 2 minute job............... Thanks for the advice- I'll have another go, but £578 is a very good disincentive to struggling too long with this. Quote ian P ('Deep Purple' Esprit GT3)
sailorbob 271
Lotus were selling these off for under £10 in the anniversary sale and one keeps popping up on eBay for £35 odd.
