Gold FFM Popular Post C8RKH Posted September 19, 2021 Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted September 19, 2021 Stuck in a queue of slow moving cars, about 30 of us, trying to go along the main road in to Dundee - fooking knob of a righteous club cyclist at the head of the queue. Why did it make me unhappy? Well, there is a fooking great big, well surfaced and super cycle path that runs alongside the road. But oh no, fooking said entitled club cyclist (pretty sure it was a Dundee Thistle rider) couldn't use the cycle path, he just had to hold everyone up. Then after about 2 miles he decided to turn off the road and onto the cycle path to cycle along the cycle path beside the river. Arrrrrrgggggghhhhhh. [email protected] And cyclists wonder why some road users rage at them - if they had consideration for other road users (and at times pavement users) then MAYBE, just MAYBE, cyclists would get more tolerance on the roads. What's the point using tax payers and hard to find council funds to put facilities in place if the knobs can't be arsed or are too entitled to use them? And to be clear - this is an excellent cycle path. I've used it many time myself - not one of the "joke" ones you see elsewhere and this road into Dundee is a very busy, dangerous piece of road. Thinking of setting up a rival to the Road.CC "close pass of the day" video streams with a "Cyclist [email protected] of the day" feed - antagonism and examples of bad riding/driving goes both ways. I really do think it is now time cyclists were registered and insured to protect themselves, and other road, pavement, footpath, bridleway and trail users. 4 Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. andydclements
Neighbour came round yesterday, her greyhound had managed to pull on the lead so much that it cut into her hand, and the dog had managed to get to have a go at my cat (which was sitting in their garden). Took a couple of hours of walking around and calling for my cat to finally come to see me. We've found that the cat is having difficulty jumping / climbing up, but is standing and walking OK. So, he'll be off to the vet and hopefully it's nothing serious.

Maybe it's time to declutter! Seriously, my wife and I decided, after we had to clear crap after crap out of her fathers stuffed full house after he died, that we weren't going to put our kids through that. So, slowly but surely we are going through every room in the house, the garage and the sheds, and being ruthless about getting rid of stuff. The penny dropped that hoarding stuff that we never use or need is just a waste of time and we need to just get it sorted. This winter, when it's peeing down outside we'll be at it again.... 1 Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way. Eg cut up and burnt 6 wardrobes, burnt hundreds of religious books and furniture that we could not find anyone to buy (or even give away). Some things in our mobile home were put in there when we moved down to Devon over 13 years ago and have not moved. My son may end up having to get his hands out of his pockets and help review stuff.
Popular Post snowrx
Watched a M10x 40 bell housing bolt and washer jump into the timing port of my Esprit bell housing, disappearing down past the clutch into the bowels of the bell housing. Over an hours scrabbling with my best neodymium magnets on my back in the dirty dark as I contemplated having to separate the trans and engine, before I managed to pull both out through the clutch fork hole.
andydclements
My micro PC deciding that it has no network connection, whilst in use and just hours after the latest Windows update. leading to hours of checking physical connections and attempts at reconfiguring things so that they work. All failed, so started the 6hrs + of reinstalling Windows back to fresh and then adding in the necessary bits of software for me to at least be able to use it for work. Gold FFM windymiller Posted September 23, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 23, 2021 bp announce rationing of fuel at its fuel stations due to driver shortages 😒
PaulCP
No one would believe that this shortage of HGV drivers is real if they were travelling from South Yorkshire to Suffolk on Tuesday morning🙄 Average speed on the A1 from Blyth to Peterborough 37mph due to the amount of HGVs on the road. This section of the A1 is notorious for up & down hill stretches with one HGV I was stuck behind taking more than 3 miles to pass another one 😠 Average speed increased once on the A14 due to the new 3 lane sections but the overall journey, which normally takes 3 hours took nearly 5 with no hold ups, just speed reductions due the the number of HGVs. So, if there’s a shortage of drivers, how many more HGVs will be on the road. Presumably loads are not being used🤔
Dave Eds
You might not but... Average speed probably not due either way to the numbers.... More to do with the lorry drivers that are being "overtaken" not easing off to let another lorry past - just sitting on their limiter because they can.......an ego thing... or just not concentrating on their driving... Car/van/truck/any vehicle drivers not overtaking anyone but just sitting in the overtaking lanes oblivious to what's behind them or just don't want to be passed.."I'm here so you can wait" ... or just uneducated in how it should work..... I now ( having "retired" lol!) drive trucks, vans, abnormal load escort vehicles nationally and internationally for a living (done thousands of miles on the A1 between Herts and the north east ffs) , and I drive cars for whatever everyday needs I have It's really quite simple - keep to the left until overtaking, use your mirrors and indicators, be courteous, it will benefit everyone...... Don't need to get involved if some [email protected] wants to get somewhere in a hurry - let them and the law enforcers deal with it - what comes around... For me it appears to be a total lack of understanding and even training at the outset, the most important time on one's journey to being a driver.... And of course absolutely no one is perfect, we're all human and make mistakes and need to acknowledge that. It will help, but not solve the A1's issues..... See it all the time on 2 lane motorways and dual carriageways. Usually numpty lorry driver A, who drives up and down the road weekly, pulls out to overtake numpty lorry driver B, just as the road starts to climb up a hill. Lorry A was doing 2 mph more than Lorry B, and both sat on their limiter. After around 2-3 miles, Lorry A has finally managed to get past Lorry B and has queue of about 40 vehicles behind him whilst his speed dropped by almost 8 mph from the start of the manoeuvre to the end, due to the incline. The difference in the usual 2 mph speed differential between the lorries is c.536m over ten minutes. So given the max. length of a HGV is 16.5m, and allowing for the space behind when pulling out (10m? - certainly less than the length of a HGV as we all see how close they drive together) and space needed to pull back in (20m to be fair), that means the time taken has "bought" lorry A what, 50m at best, so the average speed difference is likely to be around, or just less, than 1 mph. Bonkers. He'd be better off just chilling and chomping on a Yorkie bar as even a brain dead monkey would question why Lorry A even bothered to overtake B for that, given the additional fuel usage etc. I have, on many occasions, I am ashamed to admit, gone past Lorry A with a beep and a single digit salute to his prowess and skill through the open sunroof, after having to suffer a pathetic 3-5 minute (occasionally longer), uphill, overtake.
