Gold FFM Alfa2Evora Posted September 26, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 26, 2021 The side repeater on the nearside of the Evora has decided to call it a day. I'd hoped that it was just a loose wire as I'd disconnected it to remove the front clam for the recent clutch master cylinder replacement, and then I was working right alongside that particular piece of wiring again yesterday when I had to deal with a tiny weep from the clutch hydraulic line, but no such luck. It's dead. New one ordered on B&C's eBay site. £60!!! - the LED that's failed probably costs about 20p but it's a sealed unit so that's that then. I think the most annoying thing is that I've had to rip-out the wheel arch liner yet again. Any of you who've experienced this task will know just what a pain in the proverbial it is and I'd only just fought with it getting it back in last night, .
exeterjeep
The side repeaters seem to be a problem I recall somewhere else on here. I found when taking the wheel arch liners off my S, the clip things never went in back properly so often had to use new ones. Saw an Evora yesterday in the middle of a clutch change and gearbox rebuild - how different it looks so undressed..
Gold FFM Alfa2Evora Posted September 27, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted September 27, 2021 I didn't bother trying to re-use any of the clips even although they were new a few weeks ago as not that many of them had survived the removal process in any case. Full set of new clips installed on Saturday and the same full set of new clips ripped-out and chucked in the bin on Sunday, . Fortunately, I've still got enough unused ones for the re-install once the replacement light is in place.
phil flash
Unscrew the scrivet screw nearly all the way out and then pull the screw with pliers and they come out in reusable condition. If the whole scrivet is rotating a 'pointy' bradle stuck into the outer helps with unscrewing. I keep a box of assorted sizes (ebay) but reused every one of mine when I removed the liners to replace the mudflap fixing brackets... Quote Phil Leave me alone I know what to do - I think. Gold FFM Alfa2Evora Posted October 3, 2021 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 3, 2021 I don't know what has made me more unhappy, the failure of the side repeater light as 'reported' a couple of posts above or, having spent £60 on a replacement (and let's not forget another £3 or so for the 'Evora' stickers as the new one only has a blank space), that when I went to fit it this morning I discover that the old unit is functioning perfectly again, . It would appear that, in common with the front sidelights, the LEDs in these units can also self-heal, . Since I've got the arch-liner out already, I might as well crack on and install the new light anyway. Maybe I should have ordered two as the 'shock' to the system of the the new one will undoubtedly cause the one on the other side to fail now.

Popular Post basalte
I am unhappy because 1.9 million families are today going to lose £20 a week to their Universal Credit. Yep. Here`s why. In detail . I was going to keep my unhappiness to myself but I am goaded into posting this by the expressed and openly politically-motivated unhappiness above at mega-grifters Tony and Cherie avoiding tax. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. (I will not initiate any party-partisan political posts on this forum (if I ever did and God knows, Starmer and Rayner`s surrender politics ain`t gonna make me ) and so all I ask is -just don`t be surprised if I post in response !) Firstly don`t worry, I can`t stand lying war criminal Tony and avaricious Cherie either, (and it`s still hilarious how the guy with the lowest parliamentary expenses of all was hounded out of our mainstream political discourse by the heirs to Blair in his own party; Austin. Woodcock. Watson. Mann. Streeting, Evans, Akehurst. The allegations against Labour staff named in the Forde Report - but I digress). I can already hear the Ayn Randite / Friedmanite/Reaganite and of course Thatcherite cries of "you do-gooder ! send `em out to work then ! Skivers! You`re doing alright ! Why do you care ? " Now I am very, very well aware that the main demographic on this forum (and I am one) is not one that hugely knows or cares about that -£20 is chickenfeed compared to the Blair`s tax avoidance - but look at it in this clinical way; poor people spend a far greater proportion of their income including in their local economy , helping independent small businesses survive. Richer people invest or save a far greater proportion where the money does far less. Giving people money to spend is actually a good thing for the economy whether those people "deserve" it or not (which is why Iceland (for one) is instituting a Universal Basic Income)-but the misplaced kneejerk gutter press morality of "how dare you get money for nothing !" is very embedded . Trouble with that reasoning is that billionaires living off their investments get immeasurably more "money for nothing" -which is the crux of my unhappiness. The morality of "leave the megarich alone and make the poor pay instead" just stinks, it really does. Secondly many families on benefits are working and getting family credit to top up their incomes. They are getting benefits but are not skivers . Your nanny State is paying them money which their EMPLOYERS ought to pay ! Cutting UC is a bad move all round. Hitting people right where they have to put food on the table is a recipe for a dysfunctional tense society where gated communities and guard dogs proliferate. Giving people a miserable existence to make them pursue a happy one for ideological reasons, spells no future for a society.
Gold FFM Popular Post C8RKH Posted October 6, 2021 Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted October 6, 2021 I actually agree with you that the £20 cut to universal credit is wrong. Ending the furlough - yes, fair enough. But keep the UC extra £20 to "encourage" or support those on lower incomes. Poor people spending locally is a double whammy for them, the local shop will be more expensive for everything, than the posh supermarket but then said posh supermarket is often out of town, and expensive to get to, and inconvenient to get back from with large shopping bags on foot/bike/bus. So keeping the £20 has societal benefits. Benefits being paid to people who are striving to make a living, but who are often, through no fault of their own other than being born in the wrong place at the wrong time, is the right thing to do. Giving them opportunities to improve their lot (education, skills, wealth) is the right thing to do. That £20 could be the difference to allow them to pursue a course to improve their lot. So denying them of it, is bad. I'm not sure that a universal basic income is the right answer though. It has been tried and trialled in many places and the vast majority of the views are that it does not work in the short, medium or long term. one of the issues is cost - it is estimated that a properly funded UBI costs around 25-30% of GDP! Also, regardless of ones political views, we ALL have seen or know people who do as little possible/nothing to help themselves through work, yet STILL expect to have a nice home, warmth, food on the table, holidays etc. With no "incentive" to increase reward (as UBI covers what they believe they need) then you do not get aspiration which is bad for society, long term. Comparing the lot of those at the bottom, with those at the top, is just plain crazy. However, expecting those at the top to pay their fair share is NOT crazy. My take home pay is 50.2% of my gross pay - this is my personal figure based on my earnings, deductions and take home. I am PAYE so all my income is taxed (unlike I suspect many even on here). I would EXPECT anyone who earns more than me to be at least paying 49.8% "tax" on ALL of those earnings. The problem is, we make the taxation system so complex, that it affords people the opportunity to find and exploit loop holes and ways to avoid paying tax. That is WRONG. End of. No further debate needed. If you earn it, you pay it. Get over it. And that applies whether your name is Tony, Cherie, Neil, Robert or Barry! Sadly, those at the top are just as likely to fiddle as those at the bottom. In many ways, their attitudes and mindsets and "entitlement attitudes" are the same - the only difference is the value of their wealth. 4 Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. Bibs
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-58794646 Little sod commits crime, runs away from the cops on a moped (which he probably nicked and was riding illegally) and kills himself through his own risk taking and ineptitude and they're trying to prosecute the cop for doing his job. Shocking, the CPS should be ashamed. 2 Quote 88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport Evora NA For forum issues, please contact the Moderators. Gold FFM Popular Post C8RKH Posted October 7, 2021 Gold FFM Popular Post Report Share Posted October 7, 2021 CPS should be ashamed for deciding to proceed with the case, given the serious/disturbing cases they seem to drop. The prosecuting lawyer needs to take a real hard look in the mirror - I know, it's only money but how the hell do you sleep at night? And the BBC - well the headline says it all - the poor copper is guilty before the court has reached a decision. Maybe a better headline would have been "Met Officer praised for providing emergency care to young scrote who whilst trying to evade justice after a nasty smash and grab crime collided with a pole" It could have gone on to say how "PC Summerson, a seasoned and experienced officer, was in the process of carrying out his sworn oath to uphold the law, and protect law abiding citizens, whilst responding to the heinous "smash and grab" crime that left several people traumatised, by initiating a lawful pursuit of the perpetrator to bring them to justice and hold them to account for their criminal actions". Despite the criminality of Mr Kyriacou, and how his fleeing from the crime on a moped, riding recklessly and putting members of the public at risk, PC Summerson did not hesitate to immediately offer medical assistance and support after Mr Kyriacou, through his own reckless and criminal actions, injured himself by crashing into a pole". To me, the above paints a far more true (based on the BBC article only, not facts) to what could be interpreted as a copper lawfully going about his job to protect and serve. The BBC really should be ashamed of itself at times. I would hope the Judge, and presumably the jury, has the sense to see through this prosecution for what it is. 4 Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood.
