Gold FFM johnpwalsh Posted February 26, 2015 Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 26, 2015 I have to use a couple of six foot long scaffold boards to get the S4 up the drive, hence she is stored in the garage I now have to vacate. So I now have a choice, get her in the garage at home and park Wendy's M100 outside, for that she will kill me as she loves the thing, or sell the S4 again and get something smaller. Anyone looking for a good 2.2 N/A engine for an S3, all new gaskets seals etc as built by Lotusbits and bench tested. It wasnt required for the restoration I was doing due to a miss diagnosis, expensive mistake. Pair of S4 Black leather seats in good nick. Eclat 2.0 Lt engine. 2 sets carbs, etc, etc. All too be listed on parts for sale shortly at sensible prices to fellow enthusiast

hyteck9
Hi guys, I have not posted in a while. Been dealing with bad stuff. soo... ummmm... I lost an eye. An internal blood vessel ruptured and screwed everything up. Now I have to wear an eye-patch. I can't even blame it on a car accident, or a plane crash, or a mugging or terrorist attack. it just, "happened". They said it can happen to any person , at any age... and 'maybe' it will heal in a year or two. No treatment exists without doing more damage. I fancied myself to be rather indestructable.... until now. :-/ I can deal with the pirate jokes and the day to day effects are really not so bad. 1 good eye left ya know. But I find myself lacking motivation to do anything.. I can't shake it. Could use some advice. . . anyone? Bibs
Blimey! Sorry to hear that Brian, what a shock! I'm a glaucoma suspect so have been in fear of losing my eyesight for about 5 years and wouldn't be sure I could cope with that but the drugs have really helped. Have you thought about moving over here to Great Yaaaaaar-mouth, it's where all the pirates live Quote 88 Esprit NA, 89 Esprit Turbo SE, Evora, Evora S, Evora IPS, Evora S IPS, Evora S IPS SR, Evora 400, Elise S1, Elise S1 111s, Evora GT410 Sport Evora NA For forum issues, please contact the Moderators. Kimbers
Bloody Hell Brian. Sorry to hear that, it sounds bloody awful. Brits are renowned for our sick sense of humour. How about starting a thread titled "Lost sight in one eye - Job position recommendations please!" that will get some funny replies To be serious. You want some advice on how to shake it? Firstly. How about travelling and doing some of the things you've always wanted to do? Jump on a plane to Blighty and come visit the factory! Go up to Scotland and go on a Scottish Lotus meet! (they are sociable people the Scots). Get to know some of your British TLF mates by signing up to this years Christmas Party and come get pissed with us! None of us could see much anyway past 1am....and several of us were threatened with eviction from our hotel! Awesome! If that doesn't float your boat (Galley) then I am more than happy to discuss how I shook it. After I was diagnosed with Penile Cancer, and the initial prognosis was to remove everything from half way up. I got very very drunk for about a week, felt sorry for myself and then woke up one day and thought, bugger it, I can't be arsed to be like this anymore. I started going to the gym at 43 to get fit, started a new chapter in my life job wise, totally changed my habits. Probably the biggest thing was giving myself a goal. I met that last year with a promotion and being physically fitter. The whole gym thing is absolutely one of the ways to go. The natural high you get every day is a massive boost if you are feeling down. Lastly, I got a second opinion. I told my specialist that, as a man I could not face losing what I considered defined me. He sent me to see the pre-eminent surgeon in the UK on this very rare form of Cancer and he saved....if not all....much of me at the expense of a guaranteed future clear of Cancer (and more pain for longer). There was an added bonus that I am now naturally ribbed for her pleasure! Every one of us deals with our issues separately. Mike, Ramjet on here, has had a stroke recently, several others I know are also cancer sufferers and some are just plain ugly.....that's the hardest one to beat! So don't think you are alone and can't discuss it. By all means start a new thread. 2 Quote Possibly save your life. Loose Cannon
Crikey, I was going to post a rant about a queue of broken cars in the driveway but this puts things in perspective. It's the stuff that hits you out of nowhere that's really hard to deal with. Chin up Brian hopefully the future will bring better news. 1 Quote In the garage no-one can hear you scream

hyteck9
Thanks to all for the kind words. Maybe a trip would take my mind off things. *shrugs*. I dunno. It is "bring your kids to work day" here in the states and all the kids are pointing and staring at me whispering "pirate" or "Avengers" (Nick Fury) to their parants. I can't decide if it's funny or just sad.
Loose Cannon
It's a dilemma, and it depends on your personality type whether you can turn it into a positive. By the sound of things you are wavering on the line there. Me, I'd probably shrink and curl up into a box. However if you are made of sterner stuff you can stick a ramrod up your jacksy and bluff it out it. Dress to suit and it could be cool, or is that just if you're Samuel L Jackson? Personally I'd go for some wires sticking out of it to make the kids think you are a cyborg sent from the future. hyteck9
I have ordered some 'alternative' eyepatches thinking they might be funny. We will see how I actually feel once they are delivered and I put them on. A few friends have mentioned the eyepatch looks "bad-ass" , but that is not an image I have ever strived for, or feel I can pull off very well. I'm much too 'lost puppy' in personality for that. Guest Mutley00
When Tax discs were still around, and were were taking your car off SORN, you used to be able get a Tax disc a few days early. So on a day like today when I'm raring to go, if I want to drive it today it will have to be valid from 1st April not 1st May.
mr.oogieboogie
So my sister had her scan results today. They will continue with the chemo therapy which i think is 2 more sessions. Tumors still growing then they will see if there are any drug trials at nottingham to see if she can get on one. Then that is pretty much it. Just how much time she has left. Had to tell my mum who is in hospital recovering from a fall due to her parkinsons so not the best of days. My stroke affected my vision (it's getting better), but I have not lost an eye. I can only say to you to fight the feelings you have and find things you want to do. Do not let your circumstances change your outlook. This is easier said than done and you are allowed to feel 'down in the dumps'. Just don't let it define you. I was thinking this morning when I woke up that we all think we are bulletproof. That is until a bullet gets through. I presume your affliction was quick. Mine was like a light switch. I am pretty sure Johns' was the same. Kimbers didn't know anything until a check up. I think if you asked any of us on here we would all say to do the things you want to do as it can all finish up pretty quickly. God forbid. Like I have said, a stroke is not a patch on what you have. Mike6
Did some gardening yesterday and managed to get a deep thorn in my finger joint. Come the evening and my finger had swollen and I was unable to bend it and it was really painful so got no sleep.. So this morning off to see the nurse in the walk in centre where the only parking space was next to a low level brick wall. You guessed it put a great dent and scrapping on the passenger door which is going to cost a good sum to repair. An insurance job and as for my finger I am on Penicilin for a week. Not happy!! molemot
At least it was only your finger!! My cousin managed to impale his old chap on a rusty wire brush, grovelling around under his VW campervan. The following morning, despite washing the thing in Dettol, it had swollen to the size of a small marrow. How the nurses laughed!! Anti biotics are your friend....Lord send they keep working. Gold FFM johnpwalsh Posted May 17, 2015 Gold FFM Report Share Posted May 17, 2015 What made me happy today, well can I cover the last four day's please. Day No1, Given the all clear to drive again. Day No 2. Step son got married and it all went without a hitch which was great as we thought we may have a problem due to what I had just gone through, the party completed at midnight and I abstained from booze as I had to drive to Duns early next morning. Day No 3. Wendy and I went to Duns for the weekend. Day No 4.At the end of the final day at Duns we were invited into the VIP room for tea with Sir Jackie Stewart who then went on to sign Wend's Lotus cap and a further autograph, brilliant and what a gent, photos will be posted later. Culmination of Day No 4 arriving home to find the new S3 had been delivered and it absolutely blood stunning, other than a slip bit of stitching on the drivers seat, you would think it had never been sat in, what I was told was damage on the rear n/s quarter turned out to be a tiny scuff mark which to po had polished out prior to collection. Opened the boot to find a complete new s/s exhaust and bands. Looked in the passenger's side and find a box full of new spares including several new air and oil filters, 2 x 5lt of oil, new fuel pumps, ignition parts and more. What made me happy to day, all of the above.

Al
Sounds a great weekend run of it overall. I was annoyed to have to come back offshore just a few days before the Jim Clark shindig weekend. ramjet
Gave my SS bbq a birthday (that made me happy but wait for it), as I was cleaning the sideboards of it with the ol' Spray'n'Wipe, my RH ring finger went into one of the handles and jammed it right on its end.
